Triple Play: 3 New 'Lovely Leaves Quilts with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star (Video Tutorial)

Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own, unique take on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three adorable projects based on the Lovely Leaves quilt.

Jenny's scrappy "Fall Festival" table runners are made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cake). Her fabric is Hope Blooms by Kansas Troubles Quilters for Moda Fabrics--a beautiful choice for a cozy fall quilt!! Each of Jenny's blocks is made with four leaf quilt blocks with a flying geese border. This pretty pattern would be perfect for a festive Thanksgiving table runner.

Misty's ""Happy Harvest" quilt is made with 5 inch squares of precut fabric (charm pack). Her fabric is Love Lily by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics. This big patchwork leaf is actually one giant nine patch

Natalie's "Scattered Leaves" quilt is made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cakes). Natalie's fabric is Bird by Crystal manning for Moda Fabrics. This fresh, modern pattern simply shines with pretty prints and a neutral gray background.

I don’t have a long table nor many children but I do have a nice couch I want to protect from cats so I use long table runners for couch back covers and change them out often. The cats know this is where they can sit…not on the cushions. Lovely project. Thank you.

I always look forward to the Triple Play they are my favorites. You ladies are so much fun to watch working together. I am not a fan of the leaf block but loved all of the projects you created. Natalie's was my favorite this time. One thing I really liked was watching different approaches to squaring a block. I just finished a quilt and used the technique Natalie used today (and taught in a previous video) using just a regular ruler with the 45 angle. There are lots of tools out there but I can't afford to rush out and buy them for each different block size I'm working on so using a regular ruler is great! Thanks for all of the time and effort you each put into the videos and quilt projects.
