1) Fresh food = Organic, fresh, self prepared, no additives, no fast foods, no processed n stored, reduse coffee, no allergic food.
2) Check Carbs for hormone balance = low sugars, food dairy of Carbs for adjustment.
3) Antioxidants in food = Vit c, nuts, legumes, veggies, deep colour berrys, helps from sundamage.

Keep it simple but consistent.. beats Melasma because when you are consistent anything is beatable all the best.

I have always loved and appreciated your content, this video included. 😌👍

I really thank you for getting to the point and not going on and on for 10 minutes, like other informational videos. You jump right into the heart of the matter, and it’s refreshing!

Point 2 - reduce carbohydrates so true!!!

When I was vegan keto my hyperpigmentation disappeared even though I lived in Dubai, where UV radiation is consistently high. I thought it was down to me being vegan but after I introduced carbs like rice and high fructose fruit like bananas and dates my melasma came back within 3-4 weeks!! My sugar addiction started and could easily eat 300g-350g of dates in one sitting this went on for a few months. A week ago I cut out rice and limited fruit to two bananas a day after researching more about melasma.

I really wish I knew this before because I struggled for YEARS with hyperpigmentation and had a seriously high carb diet with little change to my weight (I've always been slim) so I thought I was fine and able to handle the carbs.

Thank you for this video because avoiding the sun (which lead to me being dangerously vitamin D deficient), wearing sunscreen and using prescribed creams did not help!

Blessing to you

Very easy to absorb information I will use to inform my laser patients for a more meta approach to melasma therapy. Looking up your other melasma videos now.

I hope this helps someone else, my face and neck have been a darker shade than my body i am a dark yellow colour with some dark patches, i though it was from drinking carrot juice and sweet potatoes, i have pcos and now menopause and from reading have realised its a fatty liver and insulin intolerance from pcos, as i do eat a lot of carbs from bread to pasta although my diet has a lot of veggies and fruits, now taking nac and milk thistle to see if it improves and no carbs or sugar for now

Cut out sugar and it’s great!! Thank you for your advice. No more junk food here. Also keeping a food diary.

Great advice. I know my hormones are out of whack ... but I had no idea that the relatively new spots on my face could be helped by my diet. This is so new to me. Thank you for sharing this information!

Hey Natasha, thanks a lot for this video, I've watched it several times. I'm trying to follow all of your advice for a month now, but I'm struggling with one thing: coffee. You said that it should be avoided and I've read in several other places that coffee is actually anti-inflammatory - what do you think about that? I'm ready to give up coffee but I looove it so I'm trying to find a strong reason to do so :D (I drink pure black without any sugar or milk) Thanks a lot Natasha!

Which fruits should to eat in melasma ??

I started taking supplements for vitamins and minerals, and in about 8 months time, the pigmentation on my upper lip, started to lighten, even through the Summer months - last year. Unfortunately, with job loss, I could not continue those supplements - the reason why I was on them is because I'd never built my body back up over the years from over fasting or fasting abuse - which even though you were strong in the Raw Vegan community 10-15 years ago, your views have changed through I'm sure trial and error, but most people probably have never experienced the extreme I've put my body and mind through with abuse so all I can figure is I have this melasma now due to that, along with a body that is unwell, no longer bounces back, is sick all the time, and has premature aging written all over because I deal in extremes. Diet will always be my savour though I can never bring myself to go steady with it. So I've sort of just come to terms with it for now. Unless I work for it, its what it is.

Thanks great video, and yes I too think diet is definitely key, a couple of triggers I think make this condition worse: cooking oil that is processed from Soy (soya beans)
and microscopic amounts of Plastic in the water we drink. These two both have an effect on our Endocrine (Hormonal) system.

Some people have allergies that break out due to different triggers such as Pollen, Peanuts, Chocolate, Caffeine and creams such as Hydrocortisone that contain steroids. Sometimes you'll wonder why all of a sudden the melasma has gotten worse when it appeared to be doing better and following all the rules on staying out ofthe sun and avoiding as much as possible processed food. Normally it's the food we eat that is the main culprit.

Drink water using either a glass, paper or clay cup-avoid plastic cups or bottles. Use other vegetable cooking oils such as Sunflower or Olive oil as opposed to cooking oil made from Soy beans.

Eat lots of tomatoes, and other fruits rich in Lycopene such as Guava. Guava juice is amazing at reducing melasma. It once cured mine but it eventually came back due to excessive sun exposure. I will have to get back to drinking more guava juice soon. I'm not sure but I would think it acts as a liver tonic in one way or the other plus it's very rich in anti oxidants that reduce free radicals that can also cause worsen this condition.

So yep try pure Guava juice!

I know it is due to the inflammation I gave to myself from water fasting abuse JUST before I went raw vegan, or just at the tip of it. Diet, and hydration are mind boggling changing.

I am fed up with melasma. I've changed my diet so much and still hasn't budged! I have a giant map on my forehead that only grows. I have the progesteron level of a 90 yr old woman and no MD will help me.
