As a newbie we tends to want to jump into frame works before we fully understand the basic fundamentals of HTML, CSS and JS. Mainly because we want to take a shorter path. But it’s better to get the foundation n understand it before getting into frame works. Frame work is good but it’s just another tool in the kit. Our understanding of these tool is more important than the tool. Thanks again for a valuable video again.

I never really grasped OOP until I started working with CodeIgniter years ago. Working with frameworks has helped me immensely when it comes to understanding higher level programming concepts and patterns. I don't use frameworks for everything I do, but I do enjoying using these frameworks as a reference for improving my understanding of design patterns.

Thanks Uncle Stef! As a n00b, my key takeaway from this video is that many small scale projects for freelancers may or may not require the use of frameworks. There can also be small or maybe even middle scale projects for which the use of the framework can be profitably used for greater efficiency BUT at the same time the architecture of the project can be protected so it isn't wholly dependent on the code of the framework. It is not necessary to go ALL IN with the framework to derive some benefits from a given framework.

My opinion: Programmers should not depend too much on framework as it indicates lack of fundamentals understanding. You may find many web sites or mobile apps that look so impressive due to template usage from frameworks, but the functionalities are all buggy because the programmer hardly understand the underlying programming to achieve the features specific to their needs but not particularly directly available from the framework.

I believe the trend to pick a framework for a project without some realism in the discussion making leads to more work and headache. Or late night swearing..

In my experience figure out how the framework is a benefit and a con.. what is the functionality intended.. can it be done with no framework.. plus which route is easier to maintain.

At this point I use some sort of framework or at least a library for every task, no matter how simple.

I work mostly on web applications and I can't imagine myself doing this without a framework. Stuff like making your own ORM / connect to a database sounds too hard

Haven't watched the video to give my own opinion :
I think that people tend to use frameworks and libraries to often and to fast for things that they could just do in the vanilla language they use, in addition to that making projects without libraries makes you understand better things like optimisations and algorithms, so frameworks are wonderful but try to work without it, it's a tool and tools have to be changed after a certain point, raw skills stays the same.
It's not just in code that you cans see this trend, in video post production, video editors sometimes are going to far in using dozens of plugins.

Great video as always. You've mentioned that you don't always agree with uncle Bob. As I've recently watched some of uncle Bob's lesson on "Clean Code" topic. And it 's been really useful advice for me overall so far. I would love to hear other point of view on the matter (or any related topic) from uncle Stef too. So that I dont get indoctrinated in just one way of how to code. Thank you.
