I over-practiced learning vanilla js. I spent several months coding up pet project JS projects lol. I was able to learn React in 1 week. Redux itself was probably harder for me to learn than React.

My advice as a noob learning web dev for the past four months is to take 3-4 months and study HTML, CSS and Javascript... Then go over and learn React. It will be so much easier!

These are easy to learn, you just make a project that is useful for you and have a passion for, then you can learn the tech easy.

It's the same with every other language as well. You want to learn the fundamentals first and then learn a framework. It's a shame people want to take a shortcut instead of taking the long road. Thanks for the reminder Uncle Stef.

My biggest struggle with React was getting used to how data is passed around between components with props. Good comments helped. Having a good understanding of vanilla JS definitely helped. 🙄 Learning Redux... holy dog 💩.

Speaks the truth. React as well as many if not all node framework and npm package are nasty. Really nasty. If you start without fundamental you ll fall very fast.

I agree been at it for 6 months started with pure JavaScript and I'm still learning, without a strong understanding of js fundamentals you cant really appreciate react jsx etc, along the journey mastery of JavaScript is a must i my main goal at the age 30 which i am now is to become a JavaScript expert by the age 35 and i feel I'm on track i have started learning React and ive done a few tutorials for some portfolio basic react jsx is enjoyable once you have JavaScript fundamentals but my 5 year goal is mastery of JavaScript so far ive done JavaScript fundamentals, JavaScript behind the scenes, developer and editor skills, JavaScript in the browser:manipulating Dom events fundamentals, now I'm on a in depth look at data structures now, Because of this i dont get lost with basic jsx and react in some parts seems simple nor do i get Errors that i don't understand must understand scope chain.

It's like learning Machine learning without Mathematics.
One key to all frontend framework: JS and all beginners escape from learning it. 😅

Unc what about Angular? Aren't big enterprises working with Angular instead of React? What is your opinion between which of those 2 frameworks to learn

I need help. I know python and I'm currently learning Django. Which means I'm on the backend route. My question is do I have to also combine learning html, CSS and JavaScript just because I want to merge Django with react?

And of cause Django will be a plus if you want to do some kind of fullstack or backend interop with you React API
