The most difficult thing as a junior developer is to estimate how long you need for something. Often I think, ah, I can think of a solution right away, and then there are problems that take more time.

*Junior developer* - that's easy, I can have it done by tomorrow, _3 days later_ ok, I have it ready but the categories part is not working
*Senior developer* - that will take around 10 hours and you need to ask the stakeholder how deep the categories hierarchy needs to be nested

You know you’re a senior when you realise the “new shiny stuff” is just a rehash of the old stuff but with a new “cool” logo and catchy one word name. All the noobs want to learn it whereas the senior guys look at it and think “yep, we did all this stuff years ago and it’s come full circle again”

Man I am 24 years old and started my senior career. Working with a client that has solid rock 40-50yo technologists that taught me the values of humbleness and what a real senior is. Those guys are no joke, those are the guys with experience. I am glad I am currently having this experience early on in my career.

I totally agree with Stefan, with time you just see how all the programming stuff the means to the end, if somebody picks a hyped framework there probably more chances to fail or if you pick not very new stuff, but proven in field you get the expected result, what i notice abou senior developers they tend to have a taste for better data structures and overall care about testability of the developed software and corner cases.

Great video, sir. I am working towards my CS degree and when I first started I was trying to learn 3 languages at once. I have since settled down to concentrate on Java. It "clicks" for me and I hope if I can just learn how to manipulate it very well, I'm hoping the other languages utilize similar methodologies that will, hopefully, be easier to pick up. Time will tell. It's a LOT more fun this way too because my progress seems to be much faster and retention is better. Thanks for sharing your experience.

SQL is older than forty. I remember taking a Masters level class in the early 1970’s where we learned SQL language from a text book about databases. So in 2023 it would be at least fifty. IBM was working with then where they overlaid a relational database on their commercial database.

Mastering programming language feature, data structure, algorithm and library feature using table of problem, analysis and solution are the key to get sense and clue what must to do to finish job correctly.
I dont think typing character to character is wise solution to do job, copy paste from snippet database is truly a weapon to survive in programming world

The huge leap in paradigms in XHTML is to always close your tags.
I think above senior level there is a retired ruby developer level.
