Not gonna lie, I thought you were going to say breastmilk for #1 😂

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, I would think that the enormous shipping distance for coconut milk would matter quite a lot.

My sister is lactose intolerant so we started stocking up on oat milk and I can actually see myself switching to it full time. I love how creamy it is and I actually like the taste of it. Glad it’s the least environmentally destructive! Also, I actually prefer oat milk hot chocolate to dairy milk hot chocolate for some reason so there’s that

Fun fact: you can actually make oat milk at home by throwing oats and water into a blender and then when it’s been blended for a few minutes you strain it through cheese cloth or your choice of alternatives into a jar

Can you also make a video on the nutritional information behind the different milks? A breakdown like that would help more people decide

Alternative title "Milk and 6 other non-milk milks"

When it comes down to it, there are 8 billion people in the world right now. We are at the threshold to wear switching between dairy and non-dairy. Makes an absolute minuscule difference on greenhouse gases. We should really be worrying about the politicians and big companies selling our natural resources and our planet's health for monetary games because they're the ones who make the biggest impact, I like your enthusiasm. We're just too far gone for individual people to make differences about the environment.

Milk is milk, man. What you get from plants ain't milk.

I'd like the actual source, not a screenshot of the metrics.

Seeing as, according to the USDA and several other authority groups around the world, including in areas where cow milk is less popular, show that dairy farms use about 1/3 the water of Oat milk.

The only figure that puts cattle ahead of all the others in terms of water use, is when you include all cattle, not just dairy cattle.

I did extensive research on this a few years ago. I have an oat intolerance so if you can't do oat milk, hemp milk is an incredible option as well. Hemp plants are incredibly sustainable, and the milk itself is decently creamy. Only downside is it goes bad in the fridge quickly like most other milk alternatives so use it quick or make your own to your needs

compare water usage and co2 emissions per calorie and per gram of protein. Dairy milk is middle of the pack in water use and the lowest in co2 emissions(~1L of water/kcal, ~20L of water per gram of protein, ~0.005kg co2/kcal, and ~0.09kg co2 per gram of protein)

In reverse order it's a ranking of which milk tastes the best

Only one of these is actually milk. The rest is flavored water.

I mean, I don’t think all of these factors should be equally weighted. Grand scheme of things, low emissions should be much more important than land or water usage. We can always move the crops to more optimal locations for water consumption and land usage, but if oats emit double what almonds do, then it should be best in the long run. I prefer oat milk and almond milk of all the non-dairy options, so either way is fine by me.

Ah oat milk is my fave!! I sometimes buy almond, soy or hazelnut milk if its for cereal because it tastes better, but oat is the staple of my kitchen
