I've used these countersink screws before with pocket holes. Didn't have any issues and I didn't drive it in all the way either like you showed. They do work you just gotta not get carried away and go crazy when driving it in. Button head screws work well too. Nice demo, I hadn't seen what an overdriven pocket hole would do. Thanks boss

The only reason the tapered screw head "drove past the shoulder" was because, by cutting the board to show the cross-section, there was only half a shoulder left to contain the screw. The angle of the screw head actually forced the screw away from the board, which you can see happening in the video. Without the cross-section cut, the screw would seat firmly.

I’ve been using deck screws for years and never had a problem. Just back the torque a little or use a washer.

Ok so add a washer to the flat head screw. Problem solved.

What about cabinet screws that has the flathead/washer? They tend to be cheaper than kreg brand pocket screws. Nice video

Gread demo Matt. In an emergency, and if you are all out of pocket screws, you can get by using the screw you use a washer that fits inside the pocket hole. This will act as the same shoulder that the original screw has. It should also be self tapping.

Wish I saw this before I did my garage shelving. I was halfway through my project before I went with the Kreg screws. The tapered screws didn’t want to bring the board in tight. Great demo.

Thanks so very much for sharing that. I’m originally a licensed aircraft mechanic and I have always been one to go with what works best. This great video answered my question!

I ran out halfway through a project and finished with regular screws. I wouldn't recommend it, but I was careful and had no problems. Awesome demonstration though, 100% accurate.

Seems like you could just adjust the depth you are drilling since you know the screw is going to go slightly past where you stopped.

on smaller pieces where joint is not gonna be much stressed and will remain hidden after assembly i can get away with regular screws but tightening them just enough. and oh i dont have pocket hole jigs nor special drill bit, but i still manage it

Why don't you show us using regular flathead screws instead? That's the interesting part. We all know angled screws doesn't work.

I don't understand why these pocket screws are so much more expensive when all it has is a flat head.

I use regular screws because pocket screws cost too much for the types of thing I use them for. If I were making furniture, I would probably invest in pocket screws.

Dont use the pocket jig and screws so close to the edge, and the wood wont split.
You can use regular deck screws.the end.

This isn't accurate because you are screwing into half a plane of wood

Ya se te había roto en la prueba anterior. Parece que todos son pagados por kreg
