As healthcare continues to transform, physical therapists have a very unique opportunity to truly become the autonomous experts and practitioners of choice, for all movement-based issues. To ensure this transformation, we cannot ignore the evidence or necessity behind patient education and relationships. While some practitioners continue to choose to take an “operative” approach to treatment, I suspect an “interactive” approach1 that involves the patient in the educative and decision-making process is of utmost importance.
