Показать описание
Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian adult animated sci-fi-fantasy film directed by Gerald Potterton, produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel, who also was the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, which was the basis for the film, and starring the voices of Rodger Bumpass, Jackie Burroughs, John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Don Francks, Martin Lavut, Marilyn Lightstone, Eugene Levy, Alice Playten, Harold Ramis, Percy Rodriguez, Susan Roman, Richard Romanus, August Schellenberg, John Vernon, and Zal Yanovsky. The screenplay was written by Daniel Goldberg and Len Blum.

The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity. Its production was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments.

Saw this in 1983 when I was 14 at a midnight doubleheader along with Pink Floyd: the Wall....40+ years later I still remember being absolutely blown away by both movies.

I can remember this movie so so much. I was 10 years old and my mom was in cure. My father and i went to visit her. Well, my father wanted to have some time with my mother without me. So he decided to put me in a cinema. In that cinema was shown " The dragon slayer " and " Heavy metal ". He decided that a cartoon will be better for a little boy.
went into the room and it was a very very old cinema and i was totally alone. The movie starts....and by the name of the lord....it was not a cartoon😂😂😂😂 Wow, i was so shoked and scared of it. So i will never forget this afternoon. 😂😂😂

Heavy Metal (1981) could very well be the most spectacular and over-the-top fantasy movies I had ever seen. It is very silly and a complete acid trip, and that is what makes it one of the most awesome movies of all time.

I remember being locked up in a mental hospital for Depression, I got this on DVD, and I swear ALL the patients were hooked on it. It was like the ultimate drug trip.

For nearly 20 years after its release this movie was for most nothing but a legend. Because of musical licensing it never had a vhs/beta or laserdisc release during that time and was only seen by way of bootlegged tapes that had been recorded off of HBO when it had a very limited play…I saw a grainy copy of my brothers in the late 80s when I was about 10 years old…absolutely changed my views on almost everything lol…had the opportunity to see at the theatre a few years back and it was absolutely stunning on a big screen with the soundtrack pumping. Don’t hesitate to go even if you’ve seen it 👍👍

It was really cool having stuff like this and Night Flight around as a sci-fi dork kid back then. We were reaping what the stoners from the 60s and 70s had sown.

I saw this movie on Cinemax 31 years ago when i was 10 years old with other cool adult animation movies like Hey Good Looking, American pop and Vampire Hunter D (anyone remembers these too?) as i had them all taped and became faves of mine since. I even watched Pink Floyd The Wall on video with my mom's boyfriend Herman at 10 and that blew my mind away.

I did saw PG rated adult animation movies prior to 92 like Watership Down, Wizards, Plague Dogs, Fire and Ice, Rock and Rule (my parents taped this for me in kindergarden off a rental tape and on a second tape with other stuff in 86 with other stuff off HBO in 87 ), Lord of the Rings 1978, Starchaser Legend of Orin, Twice Upon a Time (my parents taped me this off HBO) and saw Roger Rabbit 3 times in theaters at 6 years old. But seeing this with Hey Good Looking, American Pop and Vampire Hunter D were the first r-rated animated movies i saw and can you believe i saw this movie as a ten year old? i mean seeing all that animated nudity even bushes like Taarna's exotic white bush to adult situtations were nothing like i ever saw in an animated movie as a kid even Hey Good Looking and Vampire Hunter D and Fantastic Planet (i rented that at 10) had nudity too.

I mean a 10 year old kid watching this movie is no different than when i was 5 to 12 seeing R rated movies like Robocop, Predator (saw it on my 5th birthday in one of St Louis's theaters after my showbiz pizza party), Predator 2, The Blob remake, Misery, Total Recall (Saw it on my 8th birthday), Silence of the Lambs (i was 9), Above the Law, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man (i was 11), Bram Stoker's Dracula (i was 10), Child's Play 1 to 3, They Live (i was 6), Creepshow 2 (saw the first movie on video with my family a month before we saw the sequel in theaters), Army of Darkness, The fly 2 (saw the first one on HBO with my family at 5 years old), Terminator 2 (saw the first movie on ABC at 5 and uncut on HBO at 6), Hellraiser 1 and 2, Running Man, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Elm Street parts 4 to 7 (saw the first 2 on HBO with my family at 5 years old even part 3 when it hit video with my family), The Crow, Speed etc in theaters. i even saw Pulp Fiction in theaters at 12.

Hell, i even watched horror movies from ages 6 to 12 with my big brother like Exorcist (this shocked me as a 6 year old), Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Re-Animator, Psycho movies, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 to 2, Zombie, Omen movies, Evil Dead 1 and 2, The Thing, Gates of Hell aka City of the Living Dead (this shocked me at 10), The Toxic Avenger, and more.

I even saw the 96 remastered re-issue in albuquerque where my 19 year old brother drove me 34 minutes from here in Belen to there and i got the VHS and CD soundtrack for my 14th birthday, i bought the DVD in 2001 when i got my Playstation 2 and DVD player then blu in 2011 and finally 4K last year as the movie looks/sounds amazing in 4K. One of my favorite animated movies and fantasy films and comic book movies.

I had the biggest crush on Taarna when i was a kid as she was one of my childhood animated crushes along with Adora and Teela in Masters of the Universe shows, Daphne and Velma on Scooby Doo, Cleo on Heathcliff, Rogue in X-Men TAS, Red from those Tex Avery shorts, Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, Ariel the mermaid, Hello Nurse and Minerva Mink on Animaniacs, Callie Briggs and Swat Kats ladies, Scarlett and Lady Jaye in GI Joe, April O'Neil, Rebecca Cunningham and some Talespin women, Rozzie in Hey Good Looking, Teegra in Fire and Ice, Crysta from Ferngully, and more, LOL.
