“I put her down as a two day ride, who left me one HELL of a tip…”

I like how Harry gave her a chance to consider the consequences of her actions before pushing the death button

I was an impressionable teen of 16 when Heavy Metal was released. I first watched it at a drive-in theater in Colorado Springs. I was so into the magazines. The art was inspirational. I still have a copy from Oct 1982.

I drove a cab about 30 years ago. I often dreamed of having Harry's device in my cab. It always made me feel GOOD inside when I thought of it. LOL

Hey, kids. Don't go handling glowing orbs with your bare hands that were originally given to you in sealed metal encasements without knowing full well that it won't melt you into a puddle of similar glowing goo. Those kinds of mistakes are for the birds! 😎

This is such a weirdly fun silly movie, loved it when I was 13, still love it now, it has a certain indescribable charm

1:31 The terrifying thing is she was alive long enough to put her hands together to plead for her life. 🙏🏻

I remember being so sad at this part. I was too young to see the film in the theater (I would have been 4!), but I watched it when I was about 20 years old or so. I remember thinking as she walked back to the cab without any issues, money in tow, that these two characters could get a happy ending: they had gotten rid of the evil orb of doom and gotten a nice payout for it. All they had to do was ride off into the sunset together.
It's the "Are you sure this is what you want?" that got me. Harry didn't want to kill her; he wanted her to accept that they got a good deal, even if they just split up the money and went separate ways. You could FEEL the pain in his voice when he asked that question.
We are never going to get a piece of art like this ever again, I'm afraid. The world has moved past this kind of raw, unfiltered media, for better or for worse.

Myself and friends saw this movie every Friday night for at least five weeks tripping. It felt completely new every time we saw it. Great single theatre in Mobile Alabama. Fun times for sure.

I used to love this movie. Haven’t watched it in decades. Great soundtrack.

I think it's funny how the ray shows her skeleton, then strips her [nay cad], *THEN* disintegrates her. The designers had...interesting priorities.

I just laughed near hysterically when that fat goon grabbed the glowing green orb with his bare hands. Dude it's not a Big'Mac you're holding 😂

This and B-17 are among the best stories that Heavy Metal had to offer.

Here is something amusing, the Voice for the woman, is the english voice of Sailor Jupiter when it was released with DIC and Pioneer in the 90s

Uber and Lyft drivers could really use that technology.

That was basically a "You suck!" moment for all the evil-doers.

Poor Harry! I always felt bad for him just when he found a love life, she turned out to be greedy and tried to kill him. He had no choice.

He’s a better cab driver than Travis

Every time I see this part of the movie I think Bruce Willis would be perfect for the cabbie’s voice.
