If RTV has been used in the past, I recommend tapping in a putty knife under the diff cover instead of prying with a flat head screw driver to avoid damaging the cover flange. Tap in the putty knife at the right side, left side and bottom while keeping the top cover bolt threaded but loose.

If you're lucky, you'll have 2 metallic tags on your rear axle that tells you what type of fluid to use as well as details as to what the OEM gear ratio is and the gear size (i.e. 8.8). Turns out that my 02 Mustang has both tags attached. It'll be a good idea to reattach those tags when you reattach or replace the cover. I suppose some mechanics don't bother reattaching the tags. I noticed the tags were missing in this video.

The manual says add till it comes out i added the fric mod and both bottles off diff oil it didnt come out should i add more till it comes out like the manual states or just hope that the 2 bottles of royal purple and small bottle of modifier are enough??!!🤔

When you spray everything down like that with brake clean, how long should you let it dry to ensure it’s evaporated enough? I assume even small amounts of brake clean left when you seal/fill it would be terrible for your gear oil.

Question do I need any sealant on the gasket you provide? Also the royal purple has the friction modifier . Allot of confusion on why you sell it with kit if royal purple comes with it already in it.

I'm confused. My owners manual states that the rear axle fluid isn't to be changed or checked unless the axle has been immersed in water. Or when service is required - what does that mean?
