Today we’re going to talk about how much coffee a person should drink and what can happen if someone drinks too much coffee. Coffee contains caffeine, which blocks a certain chemical that makes you sleepy. 

Consuming too much coffee can affect cortisol and adrenaline. Cortisol can help regulate your blood sugars if they’re too low. But, cortisol decreases insulin sensitivity. So, if your cortisol is too high, it can knock you out of ketosis. 

Cortisol spikes at about 8:30 am. If you drink coffee throughout the day, you’re continually spiking cortisol. As you do that, you start stressing out the body, which has side effects. Spiking adrenaline can also put you into fight or flight mode. 

If a person wants to drink coffee, I think they should consume no more than 8 oz. of coffee in one day. 

Potential side effects of consuming too much coffee:
• Fatigue 
• Insomnia 
• Less ketosis
• Anxiety 
• Less cognitive function 
• Decreased serotonin 
• Tight neck 
• Less digestion

• Decaf coffee
• Teeccino
• Tea (naturally decaffeinated)

This makes me sad. Coffee is my comfort. Coffee is my blood. Coffee makes me happy when I am sad. Coffee is there to calm me when I get mad. Coffee is good for me. Please don't make me sad.

6 months ago I suffered severe anxiety and stress from some life events, caught me by surprise as I never had such symptoms or experience before. I had about 5 anxiety attacks, I later realised they happened each time I consumed caffeine. Coffee, green tea, black tea and even Diet Coke/Pepsi. My anxiety was so high caffeine triggered these attacks. I stopped caffeine, made and did other changes and I’m about 95% better. If you are having a rough time stay away dying caffeine.

My ex girlfriend used to drink four to five large pots of coffee a day. She was very pleasant to be around until the last pot hit. When she drank that, suddenly her skin would turn yellow, then her neck would stretch out and look out, it was time to leave or your head would be torn off. It was the coffee that was doing it to her. She had a total personality change.

I weaned off Caffeine years ago. Just one cup of decaf for me a day and I feel great! Thanks Dr B!

Great guidance on coffee! I was overdoing it for years and developed panic attacks. Down to 1 cup plus decaf and absolutely no more issues. From half-caf to decaf.

I was feeling a little peckish. I ate breakfast four hours ago, ( in Central Europe) so right this minute I'm drinking coffee with coconut oil, erythritol, and a few grains of Himalayan pink. Now I can focus until dinner. I love this.
