1. 3 in 1 oil on both cranks behind the bolt where the spindle meets the crank the night before, liberally.

2. Just put the bike upside down on a towel like we did in the 90s as kids setting up our drivetrain. This is a very stable position that you can really put a lot of force/torque into.

3. Dont use a cheap crank extractor. Cheap money wise is okay. Material wise is not. Park Tool CPW7, $15 works on square taper, isis/octalink.

Follow those three steps and you'll be fine.

Put pedal on opposite crank and block from underneath instead of using zip tie...50nm plus it'll just snap

Before using leverage check that the pin isn't in contact with the crank.

Make sure there is no washer still inside the crankarl or the threads will for sure get destroyed, when trying to remove the crankarm.

Using penetration oil/wd40 with impact using mallet is wayyyy easier. I found out u often promote unnecessary steps. Like this one, grease on the tools, on the crank? No need for that.

All I did was to like heat up the sides of the crank arm and it just fell out
