Hey it's the return of my Jeep Wrangler YJ project! A while back I lucked out and got this Jeep YJ for FREE. Yes, for free! It was in very rough shape, but who would say no to a free Jeep? Over the last few years I’ve put a bunch of money into it and it runs and drives great. However the interior is still pretty rough. So let’s finally get back to this Jeep YJ project, make a plan for what I should do, and start making some progress again. And I need your input! Watch and find out how far along this junky Jeep has come, and let me know what you think I should do with it.

What would you do with this Jeep YJ if you owned it?

Keep it stock! See what you can do offroad with stock suspension. And keep the wheels, they look like period correct upgrades. For the interior, just some mats, new seats and seat belts. Can’t wait to see what you do, I have an all original ‘95 Wrangler Rio Grande.

Had a bunch of jeeps and I LOVE YJ’s. The 4 cylinder actually has enough torque to make a super light vehicle seem fun! My advice is go hard top. They’re so easy to pop on and off and for the times you went a roof it’s waaaay better. The new seats will make it way better, it was the best upgrade I did. I had Bestop seats and they were great, and the brown “spice” color would look great on the black!!! Lastly, when you get a nice low rust YJ don’t sell it.

Mostly I’d fix the interior and make it more comfortable or you’ll never want to drive it much of anywhere. Clean up the wheels and put on a new soft top. Paint? Nah. Buff and wax. There, done. And then take it to RADwood!

Great video! I would put some sort of OEM Jeep rims on it eventually or at least something that looks more factory. Great project! 🏆

I know for sure that I wouldn't bother with a rear seat...These are fun two seaters at heart! And those seatbelts back there are...Dicey.

Jurassic park motor pool paint job. Simple soft top since you are in SoCal. Front seats only.

Behr black metal primer looks amazing on the floors. You can brush it on. Semi-gloss will make it look like new. Just did mine. Paint dries in 15 mins and is water clean-up. Good luck.

No angry eye, no back seat, no paint and definitely cleanup the wheels.

Great video. I have a 92 YJ as well but mine is way more crusty but runs good and has AC that works. Just an idea for seats. I saw videos where others install cavalier seats in there yj so I tried it and it worked they bolted right to the seat risers. I think I pulled mine out of a 2000 2 door cavalier. The 2 door seats fold over where the 4 doors don't. They are very comfortable and cheap. Just wanted to pass along.

Personally, I’d fix the interior with spay on bedlinder; just to have it easily maintainable & for longevity of the floor pans.

I too got a 87 jeep for free. Body is in great shape but not sure about the motor or transmission. I haven’t been able to fire it because the fly wheel might be damaged.

I'd definitely replace the seats and top if it was mine, and put a rubber floor mat or carpet in there. The tan hood sounds pretty cool if you're doing tan seats and door panels too, a grey interior and black hood would be my choice but its all personal preference.
Probably wouldn't spend the money on a back seat, if you're not going to use it otherwise you're dumping dollars into something for nothing kind of thing!
Wheels would look way better for a good clean I like the style of them, maybe get some centre caps for them they look a bit bare without.

The wheels look like a long involve project. However, if you like that sort of project, definitely clean them up. wheels can get pricy fast. I think soft top is the way to go. I've priced hard tops, and they are about 3k average and they add a lot of weight. Those door panels are very rough. Cleaning won't cut that. Try some paint. If it looks good, you are not out too much money. If not, replace. I'm new to the jeep world. Mine is lifted with 35s. Personally, I love it, but also love stock. Enjoy your cool a$$ jeep!

Yj's are the best jeep models in my opinion.

no back seat, but tan hard top is my preference. I like the stock wheels, maybe paint them a tan or dark bronze color to go with the top. and I know you mentioned something about the floor but a rubber or vinyl floor insert would be good for sure
