Jeep Wrangler - The Science Explained

The Jeep Wrangler is synonyms with the offroad. Since 1987, the Wrangler has been a staple for those backwoods, trail happy, off roaders and for good reason. The foundation of the wrangler is built on the CJ, the vehicle built by America to deliver some whoopins to the Germans in WWII. And out of the 4 generations of Wranglers, we’re going to focus on the PEAK wrangler, and that’s the TJ. Today we are going to break what makes the TJ so good, starting with it’s Quadra Coil 4-link suspension setup and then we’ll look at the beefy boy Dana axles that keep this wrangly boy rippin’ up those dusty trails.

Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

Donut Media is at the center of digital media for the next generation of automotive and motorsports enthusiasts. We are drivers, drifters, and car enthusiasts who love to tell stories.

"Do you wanna know what death wobble is?"

Me: That's literally almost every single military vehicle I've driven. 😂

Love my '02 Wrangler Islander! 109K miles on the original 4.0L and 32RH, completed an extensive body and frame restoration about 10 months ago to factory specs. TJs are amazingly reliable, easy to work on and fun. I plan on keeping mine for the rest of my life!

The motorcycles behind Jer Bear must be breeding. Why else would there be more of them every episode?!

I come to Donut Media for two reasons:
1. James Pumphry. Enough said.
2. Shows like this that actually teach me something about cars and trucks that I didn't know before. I always end a video having learned something totally new and you have my appreciation for that.

I can't believe you missed the #1 reason for solid axles: more vertical articulation than an independent suspension. You sacrifice ride quality for it.

As someone who has owned 3 TJs, 2 JKs, and now a JL… I love hearing people who never lived with them, talk about them. I love the TJ, but most of you wouldn’t, even when you say it’s your fav wrangler.

I’ve had two TJs. My first one, I bought for $200 and it had a really bad frame. Reinforced it in my uncles metal shop and did a lot of off reading in it for 2 and half years before the frame finally gave out and snapped in half. By far the best $200 I’ve ever spent.

My buddy drive an 05 silverado and I remember we were doing some offroading and had a couple people including one big girl in the bed. She was right ontop of where his leaf spring shackle was. He hit a bump, she went up, she came down, the shackle broke😂😂

The history of how the Rubicon Wrangler came to be is great! You guys should do a show on the Rubicon trim - the trim package that almost wasn't.
