Does your PETG require an enclosure?

I've been using this high-quality Prusament PETG (or sometimes PET-G) 3D printer filament for years, and even this one warped at room temperature. It's the first time it happens; perhaps this model is trickier to print.

PETG is notorious for its incredible layer adhesion my guess is that you had the nozzle temperature too low. I’ve printed like 100 kg of PETG on an open Ender

Petg with no parts cooling fan prints beautifully on a p1p.

This might be a Bambu or that particular filament issue. People have been printing petg on enders without enclosures for years without this kind of warping.

I think its the nozzle temp bc petg has very good layer adhesion and it doesn't need an enclosure

I printed the same part in petg on an open P1P with no issues. I turned the fan way down and increased nozzle and bed temp from the default profile.

I’ve found most problems with PETG disappear if you print very hot with bigger layer lines.

I've done both ways, but usually print without an enclosure. I like to print PETG towards the upper end of the temp range on the nozzle. What I've found is you'll get these de-lams if you have too much part cooling. So, I bet if you turn your fan down a bit on the open case, it might print better. The question is - what is it currently set at, and what are your nozzle temps?

What temperature was the enclosure and the room? I've not had issues printing petg in a large cupboard.

Wow that’s crazy never had a PETG print warp and crack like that before. Was the room cold? Drafty?

I have to close my enclosure for bigger PETG parts (Prusa MK3S+) with thin walls. Thicker walls especially with infill are OK

I print PETG with my ender 3V2, no enclosure. Zero problems so far, and prints are quite strong!

I have never had PETG split like that even on huge prints with no enclosure

No problems on stock Ender3 pro
Printing temp 230-240, bed 75
No issues. No cover. Just stock e3pro.
Did a 4 hour petg print yesterday. All ok

Started implementing alternate line directions and it has reduced a lot of warping helping with the internal stresses of the part

I never had petg warping. For a year now, i have an enclosed printer, and still don't have any issues, but that's the first time i hear about petg cracking.

When I first started using PETG I read a bunch of 3D printing websites that all stated PETG didn't suffer from warping, absolute lies. I couldn't get any prints to come out straight until I put my printer in an enclosure.

Interesting. I’ve never had an issue like that with petg

Yep, i always recommend printing with an enclosure on basically every material.

I never use enclosure for petg and print enormous amount of it. If a printer has enclosure i normally open it up. But slow and steady is the key. Print petg too fast and this might happend :)

Next time use the same printer but remove the enclosure.
