Stalactite vs stalagmite can be solved with a simple memonic method. StalaCtite, C = ceiling, stalaGmite, G = ground.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Dark oxygen is O2 found in a place where there is no light. That's weird because O2 is usually a result of photosynthesis, but that can't be the case because there's no light to facilitate photosynthesis

Radiation limits: going off what I remember from my Navy times, and our limits are set a bit lower than NRC regulations IIRC.
- The average person gets ~100-200 mrem per year from natural sources, mostly rocks (radon), bananas, and cosmic rays. More if you get x-rays or fly in airplanes.
- The radiation worker limits are 250 mrem/quarter and 1 rem/year from non-natural sources. These aren't hard limits, just limits until special approval is required to exceed this - which in 99% of cases would be declined, because you almost always can grab a different person who has a lower overall dose this quarter/year. Pretty sure once you reach the NRC limits that one's a hard limit, except for....
- In emergency situations (example: sinking ship), up to 10 rem in a year. Never heard of this ever happening though.

As a reference, I received 1.5 rem in 4 years from non-natural sources (Nuclear Reactor). Fun fact, on a submarine I actually got less doss on average than a normal person, because being underwater removes most natural sources of radiation. So more radiation from reactor, but even more less from natural sources.

CPS question - 100 cps is about equivalent to 450 nano-curies/cm^2 of activity of Co-60 present (that's mostly what we cared about). Not sure what dose that equates to.

The funny thing about people thinking that canary suits are shielding is that the tenth thickness for fast neutrons for lead is two inches, meaning that in order to reduce the exposure to neutron radiation by 90%, you would need to wear a suit of lead armor 2 inches thick and weighing over 200 lbs. Considering full medieval plate armor is in the ballpark of 40-60 lbs. I don't think you would be able to effectively move without some sort of mechanical enhancement.

Sketchy. Imagine what kind of MAJOR disruption (destruction) the companies will cause when they kick up all the sediment at the bottom while mining. I wanna say there’s a spot where this was tested decades ago that still has not returned to its previous state biologically. 😐 I can’t remember where I read it, I’ll look for a citation and report back. 36:36

The waiting music reminds of the the bumper music from art bell's coast to coast am from when I was a kid staying up way to late

For stalactites vs stalagmites, I remember it like this: Tite sounds close to Light, which descends from the heavens. Lagmite reminds me of magma, which comes up from the earth.

Cats are a huge issue in Australia. No cat is allowed outside, so like my council put a law for no more than 3 cats per household, they have to be microchipped, neuted, and registered with the council. Like of course people don't follow these rules, but we are responsible cat owners. We always get from shelters and not pet stores. And fun story you may want to add, actually I'll make a new comment so you're more likely to see it

I might not need to know even half the stuff I hear watching these videos but I can honestly say it’s interesting and that’s all that matters.

How I remember the difference between Stalactites and Stalagmites is that Stalactites stay tight to the ceiling while Stalagmites are on the ground like mites
