Dark Oxygen: Discovery of Oxygen Producing Metallic Nodules on Deep Ocean Floor #historicaltidbits

Показать описание
An international team of researchers discovered small nodules littering the deep ocean floor, too deep for light to penetrate. In the pitch blackness, they conducted a series of tests on the ocean floor. But what they found is that instead of the oxygen levels depleting, they were rising. They traced the source to small rocks, made up of nickel, manganese, lithium, copper and cobalt, excellent resources to make batteries. investigating the natural batteries further, they found the rocks held an electric charge, which interacted with the seawater through electrolysis, releasing oxygen into the deep ocean. This finding may change the current understanding of how aerobic life originated on Earth and potentially how Earth became so oxygen rich in the first place. But more research is necessary to fully understand the implications of this discovery on current models.

There's also an interest in mining these resources.

Of course they want to mine them...only to find out later that it was a very bad idea. Strip mining the ocean floor for batteries we cant recycle. Great idea. 😞

Sure, let's deplete the ocean's oxygen . Great idea

Finally a video that understands the issue and isn't just like, "wow sounds so cool" and is actually like "hey, maybe we shouldn't be destroying these"

“These rocks give life to the ocean floor.”

“Say less, lets takem all!”

Maybe how about just maybe… we leave it the fk alone. What if this is how the oxygen is produced that we BREATHE

How will sea creatures get oxygen in future if they remove these from sea bed

We can replicate those rock for our benefit

DO NOT LET THEM “HARVEST” THESE NODULES FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES: THE RESULTS MAY BE CATASTROPHIC! SCIENCE AND RESEARCH FIRST! WE MIGHT TRY TO RECREATE THEM TO “EUROPA”, ETC!

Just rewrites everything we know? The implications are massive for nature, and science!

It'll be taking all our plants jobs next. 😤

These are remnants of ancient impacts.. basic geometry tells us spheres are the simplest form the universe creates and in the explosion it creates trillions of little spheres of the material that the impacter was made of

I 🩷 JUST ABOUT ANYTHING FOUND IN THE OCEAN!!

Humans can't discover something and not destroy it just never learn

WRONG! IT DOESN'T JUST MAKE OXYGEN!
It turns water into Hydrogen and Oxygen!
Useful for hydrogen fuel

Any theories they have is facts to them.

We are already seein huge oxygen deserts in the ocean where all the fish float up to the surface dead because of the fertalizers and other oxygen depleting run off from rivers from agriculture and industry is pouring unfiltered out into the ocean.
Already the phytoplankton last study I read dropped over 34%, ie the organisms that used to produce somewhere between 80-90% of the worlds oxygen supply, and now their population is at 66% of what it used to be. Because it can't adapt fast enough to the rapid changes in not only temperature currents, but also depletion of nutrients as the currents have been slowing down do to the melting ice at the North and South poles. So yea, let's just drag the bottom of the ocean for another oxygen producing part of our ecosystem. At this rate, 2 generations from this one will be sending their kids off to school with little oxygen tanks... what a great world we are what an intelligent species.. where varifiable facts, and science are now called 'fake news', and lies and conspiracy theories so insane that even Alex Jones is considered too mainstream for most of the modern right....

If any existenstial threat threatens the earth or mankind, we are doomed, the way the US reacted to the pandamic proves that as a species the movies Idiocracy and Don't Look Up are currently the most scientifically accurate portayals of humanity, and they were meant to be satire, and it turned out they didnt' go far enough, now they just are basically perfect documentaries of what lies in the future for humanity...

Nodules have been at least 4year old thing
