A lot of haters out there. Processing chickens isn't the disgusting part. Watching them be raised in cages is the part I can hardly stomach.

Joel Salatin is brilliant. His polyfarm is unbelievable.

Thanks Cody for the video. Joel takes us back to farming with great common sense. He is a deep thinker and incredible communicator.

Quality post Cody. It's amazing to see how relaxed the bird was the whole time it was in the cone. Seemed about as humane as possible.

I love watching him work. He has several videos on Youtube on his processing. His son Daniel is really good and cut ups.

Great Video. Thanks for posting. Love Joel Salatin. Nice to see you sharing him.
On a side note. I find it amusing how there is a warning about the video. When the news and TV is filled with absolute gore these days and no one seems to mind.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I was using a British term. "Its a bad business" I'm not saying butchering a chicken is bad. What I'm saying is killing any animal is an unpleasant job. It is to me anyway and I grew up doing it.

This amazing work! I think we as Americans would have a better appreciation for our food if we knew how it was put together. Thanks for this video Kody!

I noticed this myself. I looked on in amazement at the crowd. Most of them had never seen anything like this their entire life.

I'm definitely going to have to learn that de-feathering technique. Working on coop setup now. Thanks for sharing.

Wish we had one of those pluckers back in the day. As a kid it was my job to pluck all those feathers.

I agree. You must remember a lot of families with small children watch my videos. I placed the warning out of respect to them.

Cody, are you getting into Salatin-style pastured poultry farming? I am considering it too. In one of his books he calls it a very accessible way to get into farming, but based on the number of people in the audience here (and Salatin's popularity), I wonder if the market is becoming too saturated with new poultry farmers. Any thoughts?
