I've been using photo editing softwares blindly and not religiously. This surely helped me to have some sense on what to do. Much appreciated.

As a raw beginner, this is the best tutorial I've found. A huge help and a big thank you.

Wow great tutorial! Makes the basics seem easy ;) Lots of options to choose from, but each option is pretty easy. Crams a lot in 1 video. Thx

Remarkable. I had to learn photo shop on my own and bucked learning gimp. Thank you Matt for making me take a gimp tutorial. It is much like photo shop only is more involved. Back to doing art again !!!! Yeah.... Cheri

Could you do a tutorial for just changing the background color. I've been watching this tutorial several times, and each time I learn more. There is really alot to this tutorial! Its kind of amazing that its free...Thank you for your time in doing this!

Amazing info. my only question is why no one ever gives the beginner info on setting up the screen like the one you are teaching on?It would help expedite the learning process so I could follow using the same set up??

I liked the look of the cloud filter. In my 3D programming that could be handy for creating landscapes. Nice video anyhow, thanks a lot.

I'm sure this will have lots of useful info, however as a beginner I ca't past the first few steps because I don't get layers and backgroung and most importantly CTRL E is the shortcut for 'export' not open a new layer. It would be really good to start from the beginning of getting the windows and tool boxes set up

I have been using Power Point to make my custom water slide decals for months now, and a friend suggested I get Photoshop. Ya, not paying that much. And then it was suggested GIMP. I love your Tutorials!! I am having some issues making the decals the exact size I need though. i.e. 1" tall and keeping the aspect ratio, or 0.4" by 0.5" without degrading detail. They look good on the screen, but dont print out that way (( luckily its just test paper lol )). Any suggestions??

Question: How do I undo? Holding CTRL opens a color picker, and CTRL+Z does nothing.
I can press Edit>Undo(which says CTRL+Z) but it takes way too much time when trying to undo multiple things!
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the fix: *IF YOU USE OTHER KEYBOARD LAYOUT(NOT ENGLISH), START GIMP WITH ENGLISH KEYBOARD LAYOUT SELECTED!*
