While it is true that gimp doesn't compete in this, you are putting ai inpainting against gimp "heal selection" algorithm. In time, gimp will probably integrate some sort of ai inpainting tool, but there are already standalone tools like lama ai cleaner etc, some even os-compatible

I make $50, 000 a year with Photoshop. It’s a business expense and always works and gets updates and doesn’t require me to learn a new workflow. If Gimp gave me the same workflow and had a paid plan that game me updates that fixed stuff I need, then I’d gladly pay them.

It's not the equipment but the technique that makes you a graphic designer, bro, if you have no skills and can't do anything in Gimp, you probably think: it's probably the program's fault, it's free, Photoshop is better because it's expensive, you go to Photoshop and what? and you still can do nothing like in gimp
