For me the #1 reason is stress, especially stress that evokes past trauma. Then maybe lack of sleep is #2, or tiredness due to illness. I never noticed about anything else.

Help for brain fog: More Omega3 fatty acids. Salmon is a great source. Lion's Mane mushroom also helps greatly.

I found out that my brain fog was caused my low iron/ferritin. Once I started supplementing with a good iron that’s when my brain fog disappeared.

Fluid retention as well as straining the neck muscles cause brain fog! But a major one is sinus issues. Allergies cause heaviness on the face and behind the eyes, thus causing brain fog.

That sounds spot on to me. My husband says I’m much better when I’m in a happy place, doing what I enjoy, he’s my angel 👼

More than 7 or 8 hours sleep, is another cause, too much sleep is worse than too little

Standing still literally gets so many thoughts to my head i feel like ima faint. I don't like brain fog at all, but I think it was caused for smoking weed and nicotine at the same time and then barely sleeping too, so literally it felt like I couldn't breathe right when I wouldn't move while having brain fog

Noise is horrible. I notice that as I get older, I can do something one day, and the next day, I am foggy. And sleep a lot. It feels good to sleep, but it throws off my circadian rhythms. I wonder what to do about it.

Losing a loved one can cause widow's fog. I've had it since losing my spouse. I keep hoping it will end soon. I think that fog is different to other brain fogs. I've been fatigued, and only slept 6 hrs in 72+ hrs, but all I needed to do was sleep and I was back to normal. Widow's fog has lasted years. It's affected my memory, ability to handle stress, even motivation.

From personal experience, small spaces makes brain fog better. Low or no commotion makes it better. Sleep makes better. Low noise makes it better. I work at a computer at home and believe it or not I do just fine working. 2 years ago at its worst, and it got bad, I still never missed a whole day of work. Just can’t drive to work.
