The car wash mode is really for drive through places that have shammy towels that hit your car. They would destroy the auto wipers if they came on.

It also disabled emergency breaking and any other emergency safety features that might go off when things are touching the car or blocking it in and stuff

This happened to me going through a on rails carwash drive through. Do not I repeat do not UNBUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELT. It put my Tesla in park and your Tesla will disengage from the tracks. I took out the truck bumper behind me.

I actually have a better answer for you as I work at a car wash. The main use for it is that during car wash mode, it deactivates the safety features and such like automatic breaking for car washes that are automatic (where the car goes into neutral and gets pushed)

You are so right about trying to put a Tesla into Neutral. I went to an automatic car wash and my Tesla did NOT want to go into Neutral. It kept jumping from Reverse to Drive and Vice-versa. They ended up having to stop the car wash 3 times for me

The thing is carwash mode was mainly included to stop the charger Inlet controller go into error Mode, i am working in the development for charger Inlet controllers, we needed to solve that problem another way

If only there was an easy solution for the neutral issue. Like a gear selector that every other cars have.

I can put my electric car in neutral by setting the gear selector in neutral. Why change something that works?

My Subaru goes nuts when I wash it. Anytime I go near the handles with the water it’s starts locking and unlocking. I usually end up having to put my keys far away and hope I don’t set off my alarm.

I wish it would auto engage into N when you place it in car wash mode or maybe give me a button instead of the stalk only . I always fight the thing when going through the auto car wash its such a pain to get into N with the stalk.
