A suit and tie with no-show socks looks bad. The men on the right in the photo @ 3:22 and the men in the photos @ 3:18 should not be showing bare ankles. The bare ankles are at odds with the formality of the rest of the outfit.

Well, this doesn't really address the formality part. If you are in a formal environment like a banking/lawyer job, depending on the culture of the workplace around you, I would skip the no-show socks in such places. They look good with suits only if the general vibe of the environment you are in or going to be in, is more relaxed.

I feel like the no sock look works best with an athleisure look. I’m a sneakerhead so wearing a pair of tech fit joggers or slim fit jeans with a pair of clean low cut AF1s (or any other low cut sneaker) works so well with the no sock look. In a formal setting I think it depends on why the event is formal as to when you should go for the no sock look. If it’s a family member or friend’s wedding I think you should wear dress socks with your dress shoes or loafers just to be professional, but then again if it’s a summer wedding on a beach or something to that extent I think it’s more than fair to wear no shows with your suit. I graduated from secondary school about 4 years ago and I knew heaps of guys I graduated with who wore gucci or LV loafers with their suits and they went for the no sock look and I thought it looked great and suited the graduation a lot. As a 22 year old I think the no sock look works well for most situations (other than if it’s blistering cold where you live) but I also think you should read the room a bit and figure out if it’s appropriate to go for that look.

I don't get wearing no show socks with "dress shoes" - when it is cold and when i am wearing dress shoes / pants I wear socks that go up to the calf.

I do know people who wear no show socks with their dress shoes but it's always odd to see skin when the pants ride up
