I was an older guy who dated young, but any flirtation was not overt. If i found a younger woman particularly attractive and we began conversation, that conversation either turned or didn’t turn into more. If it didn’t and stayed short but sweet, that was good enough being what it was. But if it seemed to turn into more, i always let the younger woman take the lead, maybe i needed to be sure she was receptive to the differences in age (many are). Difference in maturity does matter, but i found maturity and immaturity in both younger and older women. In general, i believe women mature faster than men. I also found, older women sometimes become jaded due to life’s experiences that may not been good. At 57, i began to realize i would have an approaching problem. I knew my “age appearance” would catch up to my real age at some point (yes, i wore my grey hair proudly). I needed to stop dating women under 30. I needed to determine if my dating habits was me or the young women, i realized it was both. I decided to only date above 40, that has worked well. Flirting with younger women, if it’s done with subtle undertones i think it’s fine but what’s important is that you respect your age, respect yourself, and importantly respect the woman you’re approaching. Let the woman decide if she’s interested, she’ll let you know.

Another thing I’ve noticed about dating younger women or even just being friends with them is that they feel safer with an older more mature and more experienced man. First we tend to not get ourselves into bad situations in the first place lol. Second, quite a few of us have served in the military and/or we have also already been in our share of physical altercations. A couple of years ago I was taking an evening walk with my younger female date when two guys tried to rob/mug us. I know the smart thing to do is just give them your money and watch and simply replace them later. These two wanted more than just our money and jewellery though. It was over in a matter of seconds but one ended up in a coma for several months before he died and the other now makes due with one kidney and part of his liver had to be removed. I was cleared of any wrongdoing mainly because it was their weapons that caused their injuries. I’m 5’9” 200 lbs with less than 15% body fat. Years as an Airborne Ranger followed by several more years in special squads for LAPD and a keene interest in self defence make a difference at any age lol. Young punks picked the wrong couple to try and rob. Point being my date was very pleased to be with a man who can keep her safe. For those of you that don’t have a background like mine, my advice is to first make sure you are never in a vulnerable position ever. Second is do something now such as get into shape, take a boxing class and a wrestling class. You don’t need fancy martial arts that are usually worthless anyways. Almost every altercation I have ever been in that didn’t involve a gun got down to punching and/or wrestling on the ground even if someone has a knife. Trust me when I tell you that if you hit someone in the face with enough force to crack their cheekbone or crush their eye, they will leave you alone. If they don’t then kick them in the nads so hard that they have to open their mouth to pee from then on. Knife? Grab their wrist and with the other hand hit them in the throat crushing their windpipe. Simple things are best, they work and they’re easy to remember.
My date told her girlfriends what had happened and two things occurred. The single ones asked if I had any friends they could meet and the married ones asked me to teach their husbands how to do what I did lol. Sua Sponte!
