The canon r7 is 14 bit and shoot 10 bit video

I always hate having to do this. The Canon does shoot 14 bit raw, the same as Fujifilm, and Sony.

An important thing to note is that Fujifilm has a much wider choice of APS-C cameras. Unless you want the ergonomic design of the X-T5, the X-H2 is a better camera to hold, shoots 400fps raw lossless at 15fps, has the flippy screen you like (and I loath), 5.76 million EVF (though lower 1.6 million dot LCD). The X-T20 is smaller, smaller but has the 26mp sensor, the X-H2s, more video centric. The list of cameras just goes on

As for the sharpness, I don't know what aperture you were shooting, but the 50mm f/1 is not known to be the sharpest lens wide open. Really, you have to go down to f/2.8 before the lens becomes sharp. (Generally, I would always shoot at f/8 for a sensor sharpness test, as you are going to get the optimum image quality from the lens generally).

Making image judgements on cameras with different lenses on each seems flawed to me?

Decent review but I think the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 DC DN would’ve been the PERFECT lens for this test—available for all three of these mounts, fairly reasonably priced, a decent all-in-one lens that people who are buying smaller bodied APS-C cameras are likely to be looking for, and it’s man good!

Regarding video specs—one glaring miss is that Sony is the only one that can shoot 4k/120fps (albeit with a big, 1.5x, crop).

The XT5 is foremost a camera meant for photography, but it can still shoot good video. That’s the reason for the tilt screen instead of flip screen.

If you need the best autofocus and focus more on video, go with Sony.

If you need high resolution, like a retro body with dials, focus more on photography, XT5!

The ergonomics you don't like in the X-T5 -- shallow grip, non-flipping screen, strap rings -- are fixed on the X-H2, which has the same sensor etc as the X-T5.

What lenses did you use for testing? The lens you used determines how sharp images are in each camera!

Bad choice, the Fuji XF50 f/1 is really a low light specialty lens like the Noctilux, it's kinda soft wide open. A XF56 f/1.2 mk2 would be a better choice. And anyway for max overall sharpness it should be set at f/5.6 ( diffraction kicks already at f/6.3 on high-res apsc sensor ) Also 2500$ f/1.2 full frame sony/canon vs fuji apsc ? Not fair, why not the same lens for all ? Canon has very poor apsc selection but Sigma apsc lenses are available on the 3 brands. Your're just comparing lenses here not sensors.
PS : Of course Canon shoots 14 bits raw, it's 10 bits video. And the XH2/S is the Fuji flagship apsc camera. Bref...

As an R7 owner, I want to note that this camera struggles with AF in low-contrast situations.

Fun comparison, and a lovely model with a beautiful smile. Too bad you didn't include the Nikon Zfc. I really would have liked to see how it stacks up against these three.

Canon should have never given up its M line of cameras and lenses. It offered a true APSC experience with lenses designed for APSC so they were much more compact. That is where Fuji excels. The problem with Sony/Canon is that the lenses will always be much bigger because of the full frame mount.

The R7 has 14 bits with mechanical shutter down to 12 bits with electronic shutter

Once again, another very thorough comparison using realistic settings/measures. Nicely done.

The Fujifilm XH 2 and XH2s are the pro versions of the Fuji line. They are more suitable for the best APS-C title than the XT 5.

JP! Another great video as always. Hope you don’t mind the off-topic note, but I have to say—you work with the best models. They always come across so natural and relatable.

I don't know much about the Sony & Canon, but the X-T5 can also external output Apple ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW 6.2K 29.97fps. The D pad can also be customized, plus it has a Q menu, and push command dials -- which was skipped in this review. A too common flaw in continuous auto focus tests is that the settings aren't given, or fastest, slowest, mid tests aren't given. You wouldn't review a car in just second gear would you? What F position was used in the sharpness test, or focus test? That 50mmF1 is rather specialized with heavy glass if that was used in the tests.

Excellent, detailed video. I have both the R7 and the X-T5, and both cameras have their different strengths. While the R7 may not have a lot of buttons, the ones on the camera can be configured to do a lot of things. I have the depth-of-field button set to switch between One-Shot and AF-Servo. There’s so much more that can be set. The X-T5 has so many features buried in the menus, such as Pre-Capture and ways to change settings by swiping the monitor in different directions. It also has an electronic shutter max speed of 1/180, 000s!! More importantly, for me at least, it has great weather sealing along with most of the XF lenses. I have not used the A6700 (although I used to shoot the A6000, a very cool camera), so I can’t comment on it. All 3 of these cameras are incredibly capable, as are most of the cameras on the market these days. What a great time to be a photographer! Thanks again for such an excellent video.
