Trust me, it’s an accurate representation of the market. I finally got my hands on a Sony but photographers tell me that I’m the only person that they know that shoots Nikon.

I use a Nikon at the moment, but I think it's really dependent on what kind of photographer you are looking at. In the wildlife market there are a lot of Nikon users, but if you go to a lot of the newer people that also like video there are more sonys.

A nikon user here. Been using it since the last 12 years or so. Really happy with the subjects i shoot. I think nikon is really underestimated by many. Right now i have an Aps-c body, will buy a full frame Mirrorless nikon if the need be!

from my experience, the market is generally sony for video/new professionals, canon for beginner/prosumer photographers, nikon for late career professional photographers

All the brands have pros and cons, their is no right brand or camera. Find one that works for the type of work you do and don’t look back.

BUT, I'll stick with Nikon.

People always look at me odd because I'm die hard Nikon. Guy passed me once at an event and saw my camera and proceeds to say "oh Nikon, outdated outdated"... I'm minding my business... He said Nikon is out of business... I was shooting Z7II and Z9 was backordered and I said they're definitely not out of business. He shot Sony I think. I told him if he thinks my camera isn't as good... Let's compare portfolios. I stood up off the ground, pulled out my phone and... The stuttering and excuses/hesitation began. Needless to say camera snobbery is wild to me.

It’s an accurate representation of THAT AGE GROUP. Very few full time working pros (so not YouTube content creators but people who make money off their work in specifically direct-to-client sales) over 30 years of age shoot Sony. They have been burned by the overheating and mainly by the lack of competent and timely service. Nikon and cannon have that nailed down. Nikon (NPS) is the best in my experience with service: both in quality of service, and turn around time. Out of the 15 or so working pros that I know well, ~10 shoot Nikon and remaining cannon. Not one shoots Sony. We are all 35-55. Most of us have a good understanding of optical quality and user participation in autofocus settings which the young guns shooting Sony really want nothing to do with, which is why they buy Sony in the first place for the eye autofocus. Also almost none of us shoot mirrorless at all because we don’t do video. I had no problem with 11AF points 15 years ago and certainly no complaints with 51 now. I still use single point autofocus whether at a wedding or a race track and simply get the shot by paying attention to what I am doing.

I’ve been looking to buy my first real professional camera and one thing I’ve learned in all my research is that everybody has something to say about every brand. Every brand has pros and cons and every influencer that uses a certain brand has something to say about the others. I guess my conclusion is any camera can be used in any way whether it’s for professional use or personal use. It’s just about how the camera inspires you and how it makes be a better photographer.

Been a Nikon shooter since the film days, t max, Kodachrome, velvia…Todays new photogs are influenced by videographers, vloggers recording on flippy screens. Nikon started late with adding video to their cameras. Many photogs will never get to experience the magic in the darkroom when that image you dodged and burned gradually appears in front of you.

Sony has marketed themselves as an affordable hybrid (photo/vid) option. They’ve done this well. And the reality is we all have to make vids too, unfortunately. Also Sony glass has third party options which are pretty affordable. Hard to beat

I believe Sony bought and rebranded Minolta or Konica Minolta, something along those lines.

People use Sony primarily because sony gives us more choices of lenses.
