Need to fill cracks between asphalt and concrete? These two materials are similar but different as well, and the way to repair them depends exactly on how deep or wide the cracks are.

First, check the weather to ensure there is no rain for the next 48 hours and the temperature is over 40⁰F. Professionals can use a heat lance or torch to heat the crack up to meet the required temperature.

Next will be prepping for the best way to fill asphalt cracks. Any successful crack repair requires the crack to be cleaned out by chiseling or routing out any vegetation, debris or aggregates. A crack cleaning machine will do this fast.

For shallow cracks, you'll want to use a hot pour rubberized crackfiller that expands to fill in the nooks and crannies and seals water out. Use a crackfill melter to melt the asphalt crack filler and use a pour pot to apply to the crack.

For deep cracks, you'll want to use sand or crushed gravel to fill the crack up to 2" deep. For the remaining 2" gap, fill asphalt cracks with cold asphalt repair patch.
