That was the BEST explanation and demonstration for how to get into lotus. I damaged my left knee many years ago when a yoga instructor forced me into lotus when I wasn't ready.

Extremely insightful pointers, which all my Yoga instructors over 25 years never told me! I consequently hurt my knee joint flexing too much there, as Tim mentioned, rather than exploiting rotation at the hip joint. He has also given some easy and useful starter exercises for the hip rotation, lying on the back.

I really loved how this person keep the genuinety of yogasana's like they are in Bharat( India) like their names etc . Most westerners mix and make it something else so their benefits get reduced.
And Asana is just beginning of yoga, the upper levels are beyond imagination, if you are interested in spirituality you will love them👍🏻

Down to earth guy. Simple words, simple demo for a (what I thought would be) impossible task. First a good every morning, evening run through on what he's shown. Before I attempt the lotus/ padmasana. Thank you.

Thanks a lot! This is the first time I was able to sit in full lotus! some ankle pain but the rotation tip allowed me to place the feet correctly. I guess I should now just get use to it! Great tutorial!

I'm 56 and after about 4 years of half-lotus I have recently ripped my right knee (I only started practicing 8.5 years ago - surprised I got the floor at all really). I realize now that it is to do with the lack of rotation in my right hip. The things shown in the film are very helpful, so thank you.

This is just awesome! I have the hip range of motion cos I can do butterfly with the knees flat on the floor, but I just couldn’t get into lotus without feeling strain on my ankles. You explained it so well that I understood immediately and tada I got it! Just need to keep practicing and make it smooth like butter! :)

Best demonstration of how to do this pose SAFELY. And when to do it or not to do it. Thank you. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for doing this. The circular motion of the hip FIRST is a great tip.
