VERY quick and basic tutorial. I use Blender because it is awesome, but it is a HUGE learning curve and quite daunting/frustrating at the start, but once you're sorted its amazing.
Check out the pros for real tutorials on channels such as :

All have fantastic content and learners guides, this is where I learned from.

Blender has most of the tools for scanning post processing, but nothing beats a good scan to start with.

Man you need to get commission from Revopoint. I'm used to using a faro arm w/ a ball probe for solid engineering data and using a Faro Focus for big stuff. This Revo Pop 2 and this workflow really looks like a good bridge for things about the size of a bowling ball and that engine block example. I'm going to find some money to get one in house.

very nice!

I could hear your graphics card making noise as you were moving the model around, and i was like what the heck i'm not using CAD... then i realized it was YOU not me... lol.

Great video. Very clear and concise. If someone else told me this was your first video, I would dismiss it as a joke. This is very professional. Thank you and congratulations!

Thanks, Im working on a custom mid-engine track car myself and i just bought a pop scanner to do my spindles after months of failing to recreate them in cad.
I sub’d and Im looking forward to more content

Thank you so much!!! Trying to do this in Fusion 360 is a pain. Blender looks to be so much easier for basic AND PRECISE positioning

Not learned in Blender but the same operation of aligning a scan, if there are any symmetrical features I like to make a mirror copy about the presumed symmetry plane. If it doesn’t look right, shuffle the part a tiny bit and try again. When I’m happy the the mirror sufficiently matches the original, delete the mirrored copy and lock the original in place.

Can you do a video on fixing the holes and missing areas in Blender? Thx. I just ordered the pop 2 so I’m trying to get a head start on the workflow.

Hi I've found that if you go into edit mode and select a vertex thats, in your model, as close to the centre of the end of the shaft then "Move origin to selected" You can then move and rotate in Object mode with greater ease.

Just brilliant, Thank you! Next tutorial, how to make the stl (or mesh) smaller so you can import and edit with more ease, with out losing technical accuracy.

Super helpful. I've just got a Revopoint Pop2. Struggling a little but your tips are fantastic.
One issue is my scanned model is huge!! It's a rear suspension link off a motorbike, but solidworks just locks up when I finally got it in as an STL.
Is Blender the way to go? I'm using Meshmixer but I'm a novice with it so very simple to switch to Blender and try to learn that as I've only used Meshmixer for a few hours.

Hi Jon, mega video. Very well presented and timed. I know this isn't the intent of this video, but if you wanted to fix things like the occasional missing data, is that something you do? Or is the purpose of this purely to provide dimensions for a part built from scratch in solidworks? Cheers

Hey mate didn't realize that this is the same channel as the 037 rust bucket project-I also have one in very similar condition!. Fantastic tutorial- what's the best way to contact you?

Hey, thank you for the good tutorial :) I have a problem, i just tried to import my 3d scans in CAD but the dimensions are way bigger than the original. I scaled it like you showed in the video (0.001 import and 1000 export), and the dimensions are in mm. Do i have to change settings in revopoint studio? Thank You
