Any man who's on a date with a woman he's seriously interested in will naturally want to show he can "provide" and will insist on paying.
My belief is that if he's happy to go half or for the woman to pay on the first few dates he either isn't that into her or he'll always expect a woman to take care of him.

I find it so interesting to hear about the “offering to pay the bill” test from you gentlemen. I do the same, but conversely, when I would offer to pick up the tab, and my date would agree, then that was my dealbreaker. I have, in the past, on such occasions, paid the tab, then gracefully declined any further invitation for future dates. A high value woman should not be allowed to pay the tab, especially on a first date. And a man that recognizes her value, should not expect her to even offer, again, especially on a first date. If a man invites a woman out for dinner, then feels it is acceptable for her to pay for it, then he’s failed MY test. On the other hand, I have picked up many a a relationship has been established, and happy to do it for my guy at any time....when and if he accepts that from me.

Im in shock about the dinner bill...I am southern and I wouldnt think to offer to pay for a man or myself on a date. We would not be aligned in our beliefs and values. I am the cheapest date... I eat veggies and rarely drink more than perrier. It's not the cost....it's the principle.
