What Guns are Available in India? - Legally & Illegally

India has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, but it's not all bad news for gun nuts. A variety of pistols, revolvers, rifles, and shotguns are available for purchase in India after you have a firearms license. And yes, you can use them for self-defence - unlike in my home country of New Zealand.

I'll take you through the basics of guns in India including what weapons are available for self-defence, how to get a gun license in India, and what guns are available second hand (imported pre-1986) and brand new from the Indian Ordnance Factory Board.

Update: Foreign firearms are coming to India! Foreign manufacturers are setting up production in India now under Make in India. Webley & Scott seem to be the first. They'll still be very expensive... But at least there'll be more options for Indians and competition in the market 👍🏻

At 7:25 you mentioned that Rs1, 09, 00 is 1500 US$ which is true, but taking into account the purchase power parity, it turns out to be 5450$ in USD which is INSANE!

For those who don't know what purchase power parity is, it is basically how much we can get in exchange of money. Here is an example to understand it better, in India we can get a 250ml coke at just Rs.20.
However in the US, the same coke costs around 2.50$, which is ~185Rs
Hope you get the difference between literal conversion and purchase power parity.

In my state of Kentucky 🇺🇸 my state passed a law a couple yrs ago that we can carry any gun concealed without a license or permit. But if it's in your car it has to be on you to be legal. I love my country and state. ❤💕 🇺🇸
