For anyone who doesn’t know, Gaston Glock filed 16 patents before making the original Glock Safe Action Pistol, which is where the G17 gets its name, then he just added 1 to the number every time a project started. After the G17 he began developing the G18 then the G19 and so on. It does get weird though when some guns are production ready faster than others leaving a number gap that fills in later
