Cut cheese the right way.

Laura Werlin, author of Laura Werlin's Cheese Essentials and noted cheese expert, knows cheese rights from cheese wrongs. She's got pointers ranging from the serving to the cutting of cheese, with a little bit of rind etiquette along the way.

Don't overcrowd, hack away, or dig out the rind.

Living with this woman must be a real joy.  "What are you doing?!  Mixing the corn and the mashed potatoes?!  We talked about this Larry!  We talked about this!", "Are you seriously using the same fork for your meat as for those potatoes Larry?!", "Eat the crust Larry!  Eat the crust like a GROOOOWN UUUUP!!!!", "Who put spoons in the FORK DRAWER?!?!  LARRY YOU PIECE O' SHIT!",  "Don't you come on me Larry!  You pull out, and run to the toilet, and LIFT THE SEAT LARRY!!"

You're serving expensive cheeses with a soft baguette my friend, you're doing it all wrong.

All of the people complaining that she's being pretentious - go ahead and waste your money. If you spend the money for a quality product, you should consume it in the manner that accentuates the qualities for which you bought it.

In fact, if you buy a product that's expensive and then use it incorrectly, you're the one being pretentious because you bought the product only because it's expensive with no regard for what makes it so.

Sorry that you don't like being told how much you're fucking up when you do things, but to me these videos are awesome because they teach me how to better the way I do things and enjoy my food more - and they let me get more value for my money when I buy quality products.

I frankly agree with all of her corrections. Keep correcting and posting more videos so others can learn. Thank you. For those who want to "cut cheese their own way", post a video!:)

Don't mind the negative comments. You are correct on all points but you are trying to educate people who eat Kraft singles and gouge the center out of the brie. I have to differ on one point. I agree that most cheeses are best when allowed to stand at room temperature, but Roquefort is my favorite of all cheeses and I prefer it chilled because the texture is firmer and it distinguishes those wonderful juicy little pockets of decay that ooze out and would otherwise meld into the cheese at room temperature.

Room temperature makes sense, but everything else? Uh, how do you preserve the shape of the round cheese? And okay, taking the soft part of the Brie and leaving the rind is rude… what is the correct way to deal with rind when serving soft cheese?

@felixcruzazul Good Question my friend. Well I normally tuck them into the elasticated band of my underpants for about 2-3 hours to warm up nicely then remove the wrapper and roll up into a ball using your hands, take care at this stage to extract any hairs or fluff that have become mixed in. Serve with tinned hot dogs cut up into chunks.Good eating.
