I usually have to use the Smith, because my gym that has like 8 bench press bench's, and another 8 adjustable benches, still has only one squat rack.

lol I was a USAPL lifter in the 90's hit a 267.5 kg squat at 90kg. Today...well yesterday I did 140 lbs in the smith machine for 5 reps. Getting old is fun.

When I use the machine with the same angle as this- the hooks are reversed—meaning I have to pull backwards to rack the bar not forward… but i trust the angle of motion more than the hook orientation

It can mimic Hack Squat. If you dont have one in the gym. Smith machine is the alternate version.

I am wondering which way to face when doing squats using the smith machine. There’s a slight angle on the machine and wondering if that makes a difference when doing squats? Some people face one way, while others face the other. Does it even matter?

Awesome advice. Have a marcy Smith machine. Any advice on flat bench to keep shoulder pain unbearable. On decline no pain on incline no pain. Flat. I'm done with just 2 plates. I had an old golds gym bench and flat bench would cause shoulder pain but never locked up. I keep shoulder's back and down still. I no its not rite way I'm still learning. And deadlifts on Smith feel I get more mind to muscle ..any advice b BLESSFUL. Thks for squat vid. Help me see lot of my wrongs.

That Smith Machine seems slanted. Does that not make it feel more un-natural for a moment as say opposed to squating on a straighter smith machine with no incline?

Yeah notice he has to put is lower body out in front of him when he squats. That's not proper mechanics. You should never be in a fixed plane when doing a lift. Smith machine is great though if you wish to destroy your joints in the future.
