Use an Old WiFi Router as Repeater, Wifi Extender, Access Point

This video is all about using an old router as a Wifi Repeater, Wifi Extender, Wifi Access Point and a network switch. Over time you might have changed your wifi router into a new one and you will have an extra wifi router around. You can configure this and make it useful by using it as one of the following. Wifi Repeater, Wifi Extender, Wifi Access Point or a network switch. Let us say you have a Wifi router at home where you connect to the internet but the wifi signal cannot reach other rooms in your house. By following this video, you will be able to configure it to extend your wireless signal by repeating the wifi signal of the main router. I was considering a mesh system because my WiFi was shaky in a few areas of my house and came across this video. Already had a LAN cable connecting my CCTV DVR setup in my home office to the router in my tv room. I recently upgraded my old router to a new TP-Link WIFI-6 model and was going to move it to a central location in my home. Great help to me. I bought an inexpensive wireless range extender on Amazon, which was really just another wireless router. I was having lots of strange drops of signal having to reboot it a lot. After watching your video, it made sense to turn off DNS on the new range extender. That fixed my problem. Thanks.

This was so helpful !! I turned an old Sky router into a Wifi extended - very simple to follow your instructions in the UK - turn off DHCP - re number IP address and BOOM ! sorted !!

My spare router is a new model, i followed the instructions and it worked! While I cannot access my router unless i hard reset it, everything else works fine. I just setup the SSID and password before rebooting the device. Thanks!

Worked flawlessly, one tip for people though, when the router cannot connect to the router webpage after resetting the router or changing the IP Adress in the settings, restart your laptop after doing so. Overall great video 👍
