9 Worst Insurance Companies for Hurricane Ian Claims

Do you have a Hurricane Ian Claim? Based on my experience with several insurance companies, I give my opinion on the worst insurance companies when it comes to handling Hurricane Ian claims.

I also list 5 insurance companies that did a better job of paying claims.

However, NO insurance company has fully paid claims 100%. It's been absolutely a terrible experience for people.

In 2002 the Florida State legislate formed Citizens to solve the Homeowners insurance orblems in Florida. It has not worked well. Citizens was meant to be the insurance company of last resort. Instead it became the largest company in Florida.
Most of the companies you named were created to take spin offs from Citizen's to reduce the policy count. These were rated by Demotech, not AM Best. Demotech has finally decided several are not in good financial shape. If we were in another state, no one would willing buy from them.
Until Ian, Hartford, through the Nutmeg Agency, Farmers and Auto Club Insurance through AAA, were writing new polcies. USAA might still be a market. I'd much rather deal with one of those.
When a Mortgage company purchases insurance, it is in their name, and protects them first.They don't worry about the premium, because the homeowner pays it, along with any deductible or coverage shortfall.

Man I was down in Florida the entire month of October doing mitigation. Heritage beat me to death on every little penny trying not to pay us for stuff we obviously did. Cut every estimate down by at least 20%. Never going on storm for them again.
