I've had my AeroGarden Farm Plus for about 8 years and it is time for it to go to a new home. So if you are considering buying one of these, I just wanted to share why I am getting rid on mine in the hopes it makes your decision on if you should buy an Aerogarden farm easier.

Things I mentioned in this video
- Aerogarden Hole Covers: UNAVAILABLE :(

I've been 3D printing new decks for my Harvest and Bounty Aerogardens. I have been working on a Farm deck as well. They are solid, so no horrible pegs, or nooks and crannies. And bigger baskets since I almost broke one of the little spouts on my Farm trying to get a really big plant out of a too small hole. I made the deck I wished they came with and have been loving them now. Long term growth is now a possibility. Glad to know I'm not the only one with these issues.

You do not have to put the Farm on the floor. I have always had mine up on a metal rack. Works great. Just be sure it can handle the weight. (about 80 lbs when filled). And if you plant some things you can plant them all (lettuce, radishes, herbs, etc.). And these days some of the pods come with spacers (hole covers). I have purchased pods recently and they come with a ton of spacers. Plus, they are cheap. I use the app for my stacked units that are on top of the other Farms because I cannot reach them. :) I now have 6 Farms. 2 Basics, 2 Pluses, 2 XLs. I love them!

After having a Gardyn for almost two years - cleaning a car engine is easier than maintaining a Gardyn. Haha. I just ordered a farm and it has to be easier than the Gardyn - it’s given me PTSD - oh that thing is a nightmare- but that said - the smaller aerogardens are super easy to maintain. I will check out rise and see if that have any good prices. I got a great deal on my farm XL . Thanks for your videos and tips

Many of the comments that you make could be answered by some more complete documentation, which people will ignore. But honestly, most of the pod kits don’t come with 24 pods, so it should give people a hint that you can’t plant all off the holes. Also, life is filled with learning opportunities, and gardening is no exception. I’ve had my aerogarden farm for about eight years and I love it. It gets dirty, sometimes gets algae and it is a struggle to keep everything growing but what keeps me using the aerogardens that I have is the great tasting vegetables and the many successes. People jump from one item to another because they believe the videos that they see and don’t try working a little harder at what they have. I always look at all the new gardens coming onto the market but stick with the aerogardens because they work. They’re not perfect but they do work.

Rise garden now has a Roma size garden are you going to try it?

I like my Rise 3 tier garden more than I thought I would. I was concerned about the fixed light height but I do like it. For my Farm 24XL I grow larger plants that I wouldn't be able to grow well in the lowest Rise level. If you purchase their mini cucumber seed kit it comes with 3 pre-seeded grow pods (I only sprout one seed in each), 10 plant spacers (to cover the empty spots) & 2 bottles of specially formulated liquid plant food (now with a measuring cup). As far as cleaning goes...none are great. Who likes to clean?!?!

I have four farms and have never had an issue with algae, or keeping the unit clean. Though my wife would shoot me if it ever got as dirty as your unit is. I love the drain feature of the units as makes water changes easy. As far as not being able to use all 24 holes that is sort of commonsense. The space fillers are on sale often @ $5 for 25 so not really a big deal. I love the seed starting kits as get a big jump on spring planting. Until I see something better I will continue w AG.

I was recently able to get a 24XL at an incredibly steep discount. I've had some of their smaller units for years now, but never had the money to step up into their biggest models. Very excited to give it a go! I definitely think anyone wanting these bigger models need to do their research or get some experience with the smaller models so they don't fall into that 24 plants trap. My plan for mine is a tomato on one side and either a bush cucumber or pepper on the other. I might try spacing the three plants out and see if I can do all three. I grew ghost peppers in a bounty a few years back and man that plant exploded with peppers! I'm curious to see just how many peppers I could get in the 3 feet of grow height the XL is going to give me!

I do think the one thing I really dislike, even before setting it up, is the lack of working height. I have an aluminum dunner rack I plan on putting this on so it's not completely flat to the floor, but at some point I want to build/buy something to get it at that counter height since I do all this in my kitchen.

thank you for this video. I am new to hydroponic gardens and still trying to figure out what to get. I have finally decided to start small with herbs, but still confused with all the choices. Any recommendations on a great starter kit?

Thanks for the video.

I have considered a Farm 24XL, and almost bought one several months / a year ago when they were having a crazy sale. I think the unit was like $325 or something. About half price.

I've got (3) Aerogarden Bounty Basics and (2) other brand gardens, but I've gardened indoors and out, and knew what to expect. Just because something has (12) holes doesn't mean you'll be growing that many plants - probably not even close. Even when I grow dwarf tomatoes, like Orange Hat, it's (2) per garden, and even then, they get packed in there. To think you're going to grow a large amount of food from maybe just over 1 square foot of space is unrealistic. Although I'm sure she does better in a Farm Plus.

I've had better luck growing more herbs in a single garden, as I'm constantly using the herbs, so I'm cutting them back. I'll trim the roots, too. Some get pretty gnarly.

If you wanna grow bigger plants, and more of them, indoors, you may wanna consider a grow tent or a dedicated area in a room or maybe your basement to grow. I have an 8-bucket hydroponic system in a 4x4 grow tent and I can actually grow a decent amount of vegetables in it. Even then however, you have to plan ahead. If I use all 8 buckets things are tight. I can barely get in there, and some plants, left to do their own thing, are still just too much for that relatively small area with 7 other plants. 4x4 Is just a small area for a 'real' garden.

Ideally, I'd like to have a tent more like 4x8, and then I could actually grow a significant amount of food. Especially considering root vegetables like potatoes and carrots can be grown well in grow bags.

Please do not really throw your farm to the curb! O_O I don't know where you live exactly, and I'm sure someone would appreciate to try indoor gardening with it. If not, I live in Mtl (Qc), I'll fetch it and give it a good home.

Are you still growing in other AG units, or have you moved onto other brands?

Clorox Bleach spray will clean it like new and algae only comes, if PH is too high.

I'm not sure why there is an app. Marketing useless features. Motorized light raising... Seriously, are we raising or lowering the lights that frequently to need yet another failure point? I'll pass on this model.

Mine only lasted 2 1/2 years. So so disappointed.
