I've been building my own faucets from copper pipe and brass valves.Been using them for about 10 years now and I love them. They look industrial and look better with age. Normal faucets look worse with age. Very easy to repair whereas traditional faucets are often very hard to repair imo.

Bought two home depot house brand glacier bay bath faucets 20 years ago. We are still using them never leaked or driped. Have lasted longer than any moen or delta we had in the past.

I had a small company in Sweden that sold direct imported showers, watertaps and other fixtures fromn China.. And one thing to keep an eye out for is actually the amount of lead in the brass casting. The more amount of lead the easier it is to cast it, especially if it is some complicated fixtures with tight radius or corners. While at the other hand it gets more and more toxic to use these water taps. In Europe it is regulated how much lead a watertap is allowed to dispatch and Im not sure how it is in US, but some of the Chineese brands dont follow the European regulations, atleast they didnt 15 years ago when I was in that business.

Quick heads up, MSRP is just a suggested price. The price you are talking about in the intro is MAP. Minimum Advertised Price. The MAP is why you see sites that make you add it to the cart to see the price.

Additionally, companies like Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowes will negotiate a heavily discounted purchase price and to make that feasible the manufacturer would alter the product with lesser internal parts. I don't know that they will do this for faucets, but they do for appliances like ovens.

I used to deal with both of those issues when I worked at a furniture retailer that eventually sold white label goods to Target.

Been a fan of Moen for years. Good quality fixtures, and their warranty really is for life. When the cartridge fails, you call Moen, give them a part number, they mail you a replacement. And replacing a cartridge/fixture is DIY friendly. Once had a faucet that failed, a new cartridge did not solve the problem. Moen gave me a whole new fixture for free. Ya, they cost a little more, but it’s worth it. Oh, cartridge life, I’ve been averaging about 10 years before I need to change one. I do have city water and use a water softener.

As a plumber myself I would say at least moen customer service is very easy to deal with ! Most stores actually have cartridges in store and they’re free

Have exercised Moen’s LT warranty a few times. They even replaced the entire fixture. I am a Moen fan

Im a painter for builders and we always paint the caulking. After primer we caulk and fill anything missed. Then two coats on top of the caulking. Oh by the way love your channel. Excellent information

When I was doing a complete reno of my small kitchen, I went out to buy a stainless steel sink and the plumber I had warned me to buy no less than 20 mil steel. The 18 was cheaper, but he said it would be noisy and too flexible and I'd end up replacing it in just a couple of years. I spent the extra money and my sink is still going strong 10 years later with no end in sight. He was really insistent, and I'm glad I obeyed the expert instead of shaving my budget.

Jeff, My father once said to me. Buy the best and pay the price up front. Because when you buy cheap you'll replace it more than enough times to have paid for the good one the first time.

Having just renovated our home, I've found that ceiling fans are the worst offenders. They hide cheap spray paint finish behind metal looking renders, use outdated mounting systems and you have to dig for the installation instructions before buying to see if you can use a physical switch. The worst part, is they are charging the same as the quality brands, so you have to go through the buy and return carousel to just to find a good product of your local showrooms don't carry the style you're looking for

I’ve had my MOEN kitchen faucet and it worked fine for 20 years. I had to change the cartridge recently and it works like new again.

Shout out to Moen. I recently had to replace a one handle shower cartridge on a 50 year old control valve. You could still get parts and once the cartridge was replaced, it worked perfectly again.

What a racket. I bought a Danze kitchen faucet from CDNtire 30 years ago for $60 with a lifetime warranty. They have faithfully sent me parts free of charge all these years. The detachable spout is plastic but has not lost it's finish all these years. They even sent a replacement when it was just the washer connecting to the metal hose that was leaking.

Delta has an incredible site to purchase refurbished items. Highly recommend especially for jobs like this restoration project of yours. Comes with a good warranty too
