The UK maintains a global military presence.

EUROPE:
- Germany (British Forces Germany (BFG))
- Gibraltar (RAF Gibraltar)
- Cyprus (Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia)

AFRICA:
- Kenya (British Army Training Unit Kenya)
- Sierra Leone (International Security Advisory Team Sierra Leone (ISAT)
- South Africa (British Peace Support Team (BPST (SA))

EAST OF SUEZ / MIDDLE EAST / ASIA:
- Qatar (RAF Al Udeid)
- Bahrain (UK Maritime Component Command (UKMCC) | No. 901 EAW RAF)
- Oman (No. 902 EAW RAF)
- United Arab Emirates (No. 906 EAW RAF)
- Diego Garcia (British overseas territory which hosts a US military base. Limited numbers of British military personnel are on-site, tasked with civil functions ranging from policing to customs and excise)
- Singapore (Logistics facility at Sembawang Wharf shared with other members of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA), which includes the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore)
- Brunei (British Military Garrison Brunei (BGB))

NORTH AMERICA / CENTRAL AMERICA / SOUTH AMERICA:
- Canada (British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS))
- Belize (British Army Training and Support Unit Belize (BATSUB))

It's BATUS (British Army Training Unit Suffield), a huge prairie in Alberta where we send our armoured battle groups for training. I don't know about it being the size of England, but it is absolutely humongous; our largest training area in the UK, Salisbury Plain, could apparently fit into BATUS seven times. BATUS is equipped with in excess of 1000 vehicles, including a full complement of Challenger 2 MBTs.

The UK is a factor. Only the USA can boast more world presence. I can't think of much of the world where the UK can't be effective, and with 2 carriers to complement its power projection, she is no slouch. For a country not in the top 20 in population, she can punch way above her weight. Despite manpower numbers less then we would want, excellent training of UK forces does fill the gap.

Technically speaking Ascension Island, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar and Diego Garcia(British Indian Ocean Territory) are all Britain's so they shouldn't count.

My grandad was at Dhekelia, Cyprus in 1963 he was in Para REME TA and was a recovery mechanic he went out there for two weeks for annual camp.

Canadian Forces Base Suffield in Alberta, is the largest military training area in Canada at approx. 2, 700 square Kilometres. In addition to being used by the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force, the British Army uses the large land mass for live artillery fire and tank maneuvers.

Now let’s build up our forces numbers again. Britain does more with what it has than any other nation, Britain’s millitary is in 80 countrys and training dozens. We have aAvery busy millitary that’s why we have one of the biggest defence budgets.

Because the Typhoon is a better fighter, the Harriers were amazing by 80s-90s standard but they were past their sell by date by todays standard.

Some people get well techy over military power the reality being no one super power could attack the other, especially the US UK CHINA OR RUSSIA due to all of these countries having the ability to strike using submarine base nuclear ballistic missiles, which are almost impossible to intercept due to the fact of proximity that a submarine can get to launch it's weapons systems.

The overseas territories are British soil. Falklands, ascension, Gibraltar, and the base areas of cyprus. The Indian ocean territory as well. Not sure why they were all listed as oversea's bases. I would like to see a few more military bases in our overseas territories even if on a small scale. Remind people we will defend them until they vote to be independent.

Should never have given up Aden and Socotra Island . Labuan Island off Sabah coast would be handy now too.
