“You don’t get to choose who looks up to you” damn dude… that’s absolutely right.

Words of wisdom. Well said. It all comes down to taking pride in everything we do and leaving the ego at the door. Pay it forward and help others out when one can. Much love and gratitude

Manager does not = leader. True story brother.

These are some of my favorite videos you produce. Machining and knowledge is one thing but the proper mindset is just as if not more important.

Upright, honest and true words and my respect for that.

Man this hit home hard. I’m in a position of serving the role of a leader despite not being in the shop manager. The current manager does not set good examples at times and it’s frustrating. This video drove home a point that I have been struggling with: no matter what, the others below me will look up to me for leadership no matter what, and I have to set a good example no matter what, to help us all succeed.

Thank you for this video.

What a great statement about leadership and personal reflection. If the world runs out of metal tomorrow you could definitely earn a living as a inspirational speaker.

I sat in silence, a shiver going down my spine. I cannot remember all words that strung together to make the “sound bites” [sound bites in the very best way]. The talk produced far too many to remember in one go. I will be listening again to get it set in my brain.. wonderful, inspiring, up lifting.. This one should be a TED talk…. WOW.. good on you. Fella.

Great perspective. I've never considered myself a "leader, " but I do have a handful of people that come to me regularly and ask for my opinion on things when they are facing a challenge. From now on, I am definitely going to think about the words in this video and start considering more closely how those people perceive me and start making a point to show them how much they are appreciated for their own strengths and talents.
In my case, I offer engineering support for machinists, machine operators, technicians, and inspectors, but your message can most certainly be applied to any field of work and even personal relationships outside of work. This is a great video

Excellent video, I personally am not super interested in machining, but your videos about shop environments and life are amazing. Thank you.

God bless you for sharing this. As an entry level CNC Machinist, I am inspired not only in CNC but in other aspects of my life as well. Thank you.

You are an example to someone somewhere, that is not a choice. However, you are able to choose what kind of example you are.

Wow there is so much truth in what you say. Like you I don't consider myself to be a leader but I constantly find people looking up to me. For the life of me I don't know why but they do. Perhaps it is because I don't believe in half doing things. Recently the younger brother of a friend (someone I have known close to 40 years) said to me that he has always looked up to me. He is probably 10 years younger than me and someone I barely noticed when we were growing up, yet he noticed me. Like you say you never know who is watching.

A fatal crash change my life as well, it was the day I lost my five-year-old sister to a teenager that just broke up with his girlfriend, so out of anger he decided to drive his car down my 25 mile an hour street at 100 miles an hour. R.I.P. Jessica 🙏🏽

You are only as good as the people around you.

There comes a point in everyone's careers where they transition from student to teacher. It is important at the start of one's career to learn everything they can to achieve the most they can. It is just as important to pass everything they can to the young people they work with so the yong can achieve the most they can.

I told interns and young hires to watch the people around them, to study their habits. I told them to choose habits and actions that they admired and to isolate those that they found to create negative impacts. These simple actions helped develop future leaders by making them better employees and more importantly better people.
