THANK YOU! I know you guys are supporting only windows, but it's nice to see that you are at least concerned enough to show us how linux behave on it! I'll probably back it now! BTW, it should be possible to rotate the screen already during boot passing some commands to the kernel via GRUB.

Fedora and Debian are the vanilla independent mother distros and Ubuntu is based on Debian Sid(Unstable), great one, thanks :)

In fedora you need to click apply in top right corner after rotation change, it would work.

'Vanilla' Debian is only free software, the wifi chip on that thing is probably Broadcom so needs a non-free driver, easily done as you know.

Thank you for your effort on these tests! Few questions:
1. Does the touch bar buttons works well with all the Linux OS? (Lights, volume/audio and mouse click controls?)
2. Is easy to find a solution to make the Wi-Fi works on Debian?
3. Is it possible to flash all the solid drive eMMC with a pure Linux installation?
4. Is it possible to partition the storage in order to leave a dual boot or to make different partition for Linux needs?
5. Do you think a pure installation of Fedora will be able to fix the screen orientation or it is something solvable by the BIOS configuration?

Many many thanks for your time!

OMG to be able to bring a intel CPU linux device in your pocket where ever you go is awesome

Great video. That Linux loading screen is a bit weird because of orientation though. Looks like a screen of 'text skyscrapers'.
Still, a nice device to have on the go with you. :)

Hi, what's driver to fix the screen sign, I've already tried type "xrandr -o right" was not run

Ironically Fedora is the only distro that recognizes the screen scaling and orientation correctly.

Nice Video. You could also try one of the AndroidX86 builds. Should work nicely on this hardware.

You should try the debian iso with non-free firmware ;) then wifi will work out of the box.

This would be a neat Kali box with an airmon compatible wifi dongle. But the price needs to come down.

Try [Windows] + [T] to open the terminal to make the rotation even faster. :-)

I'd really recommend running Fedora, pure Arch or Pop_OS instead of Ubuntu as for compatability and stability (Excusing Arch without you necessarily being a power user who can constantly fix minor issues). And as for DE's, it'd be far better not only due to the low demand but due to the ease of use with a keyboard only, as to avoid having to use that shotty looking touch ability on the oem screen, to use i3 gaps as it'll automatically move windows for you, though will require much user tinkering.

I'm willing to bet that Linux is reading the screen correctly. This is a vertical screen that the company used for this laptop. Which means that they force it to be landscape on Windows, and when you do that, the backlight is all wrong and can give you headaches. I wish they used a real landscape screen.

Thanks for this video. How long does the battery last?

I wonder how Puppy, Zoran & Ubuntu would run on this...

I know that debian doesn't ship with non-free drivers by default so what I would do on a regular laptop with an ethernet port is connect the ethernet cable, add the non-free repositories to my apt sources list, apt update, apt upgrade, reboot, and have wifi drivers. but i'm not sure how to do it if you don't have an ethernet port, besides using a usb ethernet adapter but there is probably an easier way.

Storage size on these devices are too small for my liking
