I appreciate your honesty on the video, especially in the title. Maybe it is a good idea to _marketing_ more the video, this video deserve more view, maybe, maybe there is a linux developer or someone who relate to can address this problem.

neato! good to know they are working with ubuntu mate (any distro really) - that will certainly help with other distros as well in the future. Or rather, the experience gained from the mate users, so they can gift that to the community in the forums :)

Awesome job and thanks *very* much for going to all this trouble. I had resolution-doubling (HiDPI?) issues with Gnome and strange screen shifts with Linux on an old Bay Trail Atom tablet (HP Stream 7), so it may not be entirely related to Gemini Lake.

CONFIG_PINCTRL_GEMINILAKE=y is supposed to be in the kernel build .config before being built, not on the kernel command line.

Gosh this feels so similar to where I’m at with getting macOS to run on the Pocket 2; I can get the built-in panel to work if I don’t set up hardware acceleration but it’s rotated sideways and can’t be changed, and if I do set up hardware acceleration it only outputs to an external display, the internal one refuses to show anything. I know it’s a totally different OS and likely different reason, but it’s still quite surprising to see such similar behavior.

Apart from the screen, does everything else work out of the box or is a custom iso still needed? What else doesn't work or has issues (like mic, speaker, hdmi audio, standby, hibernate...)?

I just ordered one of these, due to Ubuntu Mate being billed as a supported OS. Now I am disappointed to discover that Linux may not run well on this machine at all :( . Is there any sign of progress being made on the Linux front, or is this likely to be a no-go? Also, thanks for the review.
