I have the older style.I do use the cradle for my iPhone ( Wilson one that it clips into). But, I do have a larger outside antenna, the one little one is a 0db ( big bubble coverage), I went to a 3db or a 5db (more up and out) for more range. Just make sure you have the antenna on a good ground plane center flat metal if possible. At times even if you have bad coverage, texts usually work for me and for calls, go with the 4G only if you have a problem.

Ive got one of those on my service truck i drive everyday and it works pretty good in rural va in the woods and mountains where cell service is spotty can usually get out and call...almost always can text its pretty good had it about a year so far so good wilson makes pretty good stuff...later on

I have a weBoost OTR and live in the middle of no where PA and it does an exceptional job. Downfall is if you get a modern phone you must switch over to the wireless setup. the newer phones are covered in "glass", which makes the cradle useless.

Nice, my boss and I both have this booster and have had great luck with 2 different external antenna options. Curious if you have tried different antennas?

Look into a higher gain outside antenna. We had to do that for police cars and fire trucks. The little pencil antenna is ok, but there are much better ones available

How could you not love Cottonwood ❤️. Definitely lucky to have good cell phone service. Some parts of town are not as good as others but pretty good overall. Glad it helped you out 👍Great review

Did it have any mounting instructions as far as which way it should be turned?Sometimes the mfg wants an item like that oriented a certain way for better cooling.

There are different exterior antennas you can use that have more gain and will give you more signal into that unit.

Might ask the cell phone signal booster maker if a 'heat sink' or a fan or liquid cooling etc can be used to remove some of the heat from the booster unit.

I have one had it it 2 and still have the only thing to watch for is it will drain ur batter if u leave it on for a day without running truck or machine
