Star Citizen - Crusader Intrepid - What An Ugly Ship!
LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 4.0 EVOCATI

Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.

I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
GameGlass, Shadow & NordVPN referrals give me a small kickback, however I am not paid by them for any specific videos or promotion. Unless Otherwise Stated.

"What if the gun on the ares was really small lol?" I can see how this whole thing started from a singular joke on the company Slack.

It looks like one of the artists found a way to import their Minecraft build into Star Engine

that whole side for that crappy gun is a slap to the face lol

The amount of respect Bored gives to the ship: "You dont have to Vtol if you dont want to". If only others would learn from his example

Exterior is love-it-or-hate-it, but the interior is next-level. I'm loving what they're able to do with small ship interiors these days.

You mentioned they scanned your head awhile back, but I didn't expect them to use it for a ship!

They really dropped the ball with this one. To make an asymmetric design work you have to make sure the mass is still balanced as well and this isn't to an extreme degree. Additionally, they put so much emphasis on the single gun that is pitifully small and weak and it just looks all wrong, especially when every other ship that has a gun of its size or larger just pops it under the nose or wings no problem. They need to find a way to shift more mass to the other side and either make the gun bigger or put the emphasis on something else (and given that this ship is outgunned by every other starter ship bar the C8, including the Aurora and Cutter, upping its combat potential to be at least on par with them is a very good idea for a ship of its size.)

Can't imagine why you'd want this over an Avenger. The Titan has the same cargo space, is half the size, looks better, has everything the Intrepid has, and could probably take on 3 of them in a fight at one time. And it's $56 right now.

I really like the Intrepid. It's a little odd looking but awesome just the same. Someone said last night it looks like an MSR and a Ares had an ugly child' 👶The interior is fantastic. The mirrors work in the bathroom.

Instead of removing that angle I would pull it further to the front to not make the cockpit stick out so much. The rest is pretty cool, in particular that the cargo areas can be sealed off from the interior.

8:08 yes i agree that the fan made rework is better, and i would have added to this rework a full symetrical shape with the gun imitating the cockpit shape, and it would have been so cute / hot

Open the door and walk away, no-one will steal it

I was going to buy this until I saw it. It wouldn’t be so bad if its wings weren’t so thick and square at the ends, I think.

saltemike tried this ship today. The cargo hold is not easy to access. The ship would have to be a bit taller and the cargo hold a bit wider so you don't have to struggle fitting boxes in it.

It's the Homermobile in Star Citizen. It's like the CEO's nephew took one ship design class in college and thought he could design a real ship.

I think a lot of folks are forgetting that this is meant to be the starter tier from Crusader. Not just a star citizen starter ship, but it's the equivalent of a bargain bin build from Crusader. Visually it's not as lovely as some options, but I don't think it's as ugly as folks are saying. I rarely spend much time looking at my ship in detail from the outside. Instead, my potential issue with it is the cargo option. Loading cargo into those things is very limited and cramped. But, that's true of several of its competitors as well. A single S3 gun is a fair bit of firepower for a starter ship. It's not massive, but it's a Crusader base ship, not a dedicated fighter craft. That's enough to do starting BH and Merc missions and participate in larger fights with friends.
We have a modest but functional cargo level, a bed, some storage, enough firepower for beginner ops or obliterating NPC's who are silly enough to be outside at a bunker. It's relatively compact and hopefully isn't particularly slow or lightly shielded for what it is. Now, if they price it too high, that's different. But I view it as a Crusader alternative to the Avenger Titan. That's why the annoying shape and positions on the cargo grids bug me. That's your niche, why is it MORE ANNOYING TO USE than the more combat oriented option?

I think the tiny engines make the back end look a little off

Also think the gun needs to go up a size, to make it worth taking up all that space

Love the rest of it, and the idea of deploying bikes out of it. Made me think of Terminator Salvation, deploying bikes to hunt fast targets

So the baby runner (coining this here and now) is pretty cool but I'd have expected the single gun to be a size 4.

If they put this ship in as a starter pack priced to compete with the Aurora and Mustang then there is an argument to be made that it is for players who want to stick to cargo and exploration. If it's anywhere near $60 then there's already the Avenger Titan and 300i. Both of which carry the same amount of cargo and are both faster, better armed, and have better shielding. If you want to stick to cargo/exploration then there's the Cutter which while it is listed as only carrying half the cargo, it can carry a small ground vehicle (and it has better firepower).
