Everyone gets to say NO. Unwelcome behavior needs to be addressed and those who push boundaries need to be told no and learn from that. Stay strong Chappel Roan- the artist and the person behind the artist. Your music and performances are awesome.

True fans don’t stalk and harass! I love Chappell and her music and she doesn’t deserve that!😢

Other celebrities dont talk about how people make up a relationship with celebrities in their head. She is being so real. Good for her.

True fans dont reach out to touch her at events, they dont go up for autographs nor pester her in public or bother them on social media. True fans keep their distance, enjoy her music at a concert from a distance or at home and thats it.

So Lady Gaga has her lovingly named Little Monsters. Taylor's fans are sweetly named Swifties. Beyonce has her beloved Beehive. And Chappell Roan affectionately refers to her fans as Random B*tches. What a delight!

chappell: [exists as a human and doesn’t want people all up in her face]
stupid people online: “oH mY gOd sHeS sO rUdE liKe uR a CeLeB dEaL wItH iT”
normal people (who ate): no no she was right

I agree with her! There’s nothing wrong with wanting your privacy no matter how famous you are! You don’t know what fans will do with the pictures they take of you!

I'll never forget the day I walked in an underground mall beside Kiefer Sutherland, his wife and children. Nobody else was around. I thought to myself, "Wow, I can't believe how I'm going to walk to my destination and leave these people alone." They were just normal people to me, and I didn't have a cellphone back then. 😂

Anyone disagreeing with Chappell’s point just baffles me 🤯 like this isn’t a hot take, and more people should be talking about this.
Also celebrity culture is nuts. People are PAID (paparazzi) to stalk and harass people purely because they’re famous. This isn’t okay. People should be able to go out and exist OUTSIDE OF THEIR JOB without constant harassment, stalking, criticism and judgement. I understand wanting a photo or meeting someone you admire - but the reality is neither of you know each other and it’s weird! Meet & greets exist - and that’s definitely a more appropriate way of doing it.
I’ve heard countless stories from celebrities about how they can’t live a normal day to day with their families because of their JOB.

I don’t want to hear bs about how “oh well that’s their fault for choosing to be famous” - why don’t we take some accountability that these people are HUMAN like us, and treat them like you would another stranger with respect, rather than feeling entitled to their time because you like their art.

Parasocial relationships are fucking scary. Rich & famous doesn’t mean you have to trade basic human rights to privacy and safety.

Wow some of these comments are so hateful just because someone is asking for basic human decency and respect.

You wanna know how toxic fans can be ? Just look at the negative comments towards her

Sadly, her music has affected so many people positively that I think strangers will keep asking for a hug on the street. I hope she doesn't pull a Gotye.

Never understood people who do that whole stalking a celebrity thing… just another person at work and when they’re not singing it’s there day off. Leave everyone alone man.

I've never heard of this industry plant before this interview

Why does any "fan" feel entitled to interrupt someones life to get a photo, hug, acknowledgement etc.? It is creepy.

Harassment/stalking, etc, that kind of behavior is never acceptable. That being said, that’s what fame is. Millions of strangers become familiar with your work and your life, and it’s an uneven dynamic. Yes it’s weird for a stranger to ask for a hug, but they’re asking because they are familiar with you, and you’ve touched them emotionally in some way. You’re not a stranger to them, and it’s easy for them to forget that they’re a stranger to you. There are creeps out there, and being famous draws those people towards you. It’s just something you have to manage. Otherwise, stay out of the limelight.
