Did it actually happen 1 YEAR AGO? According to Entertainment Tonight, the interaction between Chappell & the Photographer took place one year ago at the Grammy’s after party. I see a lot of people in the comments disagreeing but that’s what the articles are saying. It’s been a year!

Definitely agree with what you said, I’m glad she’s showing how she won’t back down when faced by rude people, but this is what people are going to be talking about more than the premier of the film itself

Asking someone for an apology/telling someone they owe you an apology is wasted energy.

The power of an apology is that the one who says it admits they're wrong. When you demand it but they're like "uhh, whatever", does it even have the same value?

never is it okay for photographers to be assholes, but part of being in the spotlight is by handling those altercations not at somebody else’s premiere

uh oh Chappell, you’re starting to rub me the wrong way. it’s giving messy Karen loose cannon energy. Girl, we love you, please take a chill pill, though.

I agree!! Whilst it's great that she's standing up against rude people, it wasn't really the moment. It's not her show, and could've been done in a somewhat more private way. But, in the moment, it's hard to make those kinds of judgments sometimes
Edit: replies started a to be clear - I am also a performer with mental health issues. I am obviously not famous on Chappell's level, that would be ridiculous to say. But there are a lot of people hyping her up in this situation and basically glorifying it. She's someone with mental health problems who has been thrust into the spotlight without any media training. That's a tough situation. I appreciate her calling out rude people in the industry. Unfortunately, there's always going to be rude people, especially in such a busy and power hungry industry. I know. I work in it. It's not always a positive space. I empathise with her, but I also don't think this was the way to handle it.

Chappel girl, we love you, but this isn't the right way to demand an apology

Oh man I got secondhand embarrassment. A better power move would have been ignoring them entirely, not giving them your full attention at a massive event. Never let these fools know how much their weird behavior affects you.

i like chappell and her music and i’m glad she’s speaking up about the mistreatment of celebrities and parasocial relationships but this is going too far… i feel like she’s trying to prove a point and she’s becoming a little bit insufferable. this was the wrong place and wrong time. of course you need to stand up for yourself but you also need to know when to pick your battles. she’s picking every battle! 😭

i felt like chappell really made it really about herself and the condescending tone made her seem super rude. i’m proud of her for setting boundaries but girl there is a time and a place and maybe not on olivia’s day

Demanding an apology after a year is such a type of person… idk about this one

I don’t think you should go around begging people for apologies. people are trash sometimes. she needs to get thicker skin or something in my opinion

Just so unnecessary. A year ago? Someone yelled at you and you want to now demand an apology at an event for your friend? Very self centered behavior

It’s like your friend invites you to their bday party at a restaurant. You see a waiter there who was super rude to you a year ago and in the middle of dinner, with everyone around, you start demanding they apologize to you…

Like girl go get your apology. Demand your respect but also maybe after the dinner is over? Send a letter to that persons agency or in this case manager? Everyone’s eating right now and you just went up to the waiter and demanded they say sorry to you….

Chappel babe - you have every right to stand up for yourself. But learn about time and place. This only took the focus away from Olivia’s premiere. It’s getting to the point where I subconsciously find myself skipping her songs even though I love her artistry. Chillll

Lord have mercy, PR isn’t a thing to her 😭

love chappell but she kinda has to stop doing this 😭😭 i think she’s letting the hype she got from sticking up for herself get to her head and now she feels like she has to do this at every event. it’s lowkey giving crash out or karen, she has to find a better way to handle this stuff 😭
