Why Was This Roof Insurance Claim Denied... Then APPROVED?

At first, the claim for hail damage on this roof was denied by the insurance adjuster. Then, a couple of weeks later, the same insurance company approved the claim for a full roof replacement. Why did the same insurance company first deny this claim for hail damage and then approve it?

This is why I always encourage my customers to have the roofer and the adjuster look at the roof together. Two sets of eyes are better than one. Another thing is, if one misses something then the other can point it out. Really good video. Let me know if you decided to move to NM

We missed the one year window to put in the first claim due to a storm a couple years ago. There was a tornado about 4 months ago and the first amount of damage is still there so our insurance won’t help us with this year’s tornado damage

This is how State Farm and Allstate work in our area. They hire goohers to go out and deny roofs because these UNLICENCED field adjusters get paid per appointments. These 2 companies hope to limit the number of homeowners who either have knowledgeable contractors present at the inspection or request reinspections. As roofers we must be consistent with our assrssments and its really unfair that these huge insurance companies take advantage of their captive audience. I recommend to homeowners tgat they stay away from the insurance conpanies who advertise on TV. Most of my job literally is educating customers on insurance because most people have no clue how it works until they have to file a claim or get a letter from their carrier stating they have to replace their roof or they will lose their insurance. UPC did this after Hurricane Ian, and then they ran out of money and went insolvent due to under-estimating their losses from Ian.

I'm curious what would happen if the 2nd adjuster denied the claim as well? Is there higher up we can go?

Similar situation but after they denied my claim and my contractor requested a re inspection the insurance refused to grant a re inspection. So we did just a patch job. Now a month later I have another leak but also switched insurance companies. Can I open another claim with my old insurance company again?

OA here, the more we write up for the more we get paid so we’re going to want to write up for as much as possible. However though sometimes we can write up for a roof replacement or for a lot more, but if the person reviewing the estimate denies payment and makes me remove stuff from the estimate then I cannot pay for it as much as I want to. And have to have the homeowner file for a supplemental. I know that it seems like the OA is the bad guy since we’re the ones showing our face and it seems like we have all of this authority. But it’s really the people that are sitting on a desk calling the shots acting as if that money is coming directly from their paychecks
