One more tip: if you buy a USB-C extension cable and notice that some features of your hub work and others don't (such as the USB-A ports), try flipping the female connector by 180°. It turns out that normal USB-C cables can be plugged in in either orientation, but the female connector of extension cables often only partially works in one of the orientations.

I have used these exclusively for 2 years + for home setup, work setup, and even live performance on keyboard on both MacBook Pro and iPad Pro and they are absolute workhorses 💯💯💯

Thank you sausage! This hub certainly looks like the best option out of all the ones I’ve looked at. One thing many musicians are guilty of is not wanting to take the time to understand the difference that is made by purchasing the correct cables. A cable that can handle the right amount of data transfer or power means all the difference when you connect all your stuff to the iPad and are working on a heavy project. When something falls down we always blame the software or the device, never the rubbish cable that came free with the hub that cost less than lunch and simply isn’t up to the task. I guess this is because this stuff is unbelievably boring. You just made it interesting and explained it all beautifully. Thank you. X

If you buy a usb A to aux adapter, then this becomes a great hub. I tried plugging an adapter into a hub and was surprised that it works. Finally don’t have to compromise on not having a headphone jack

Learned a lot about usb-c. The thicker the better and iPads will have a cord sticking out the right side regardless of using a doc/hub/multiport. Good info and straight to the point!

If this was a commercial, it worked. It’s something I needed. I immediately ordered the hub with a longer cable. It’s still on Cyber Monday sale price.

Ive been using these hubs fro a few years and so far i cant fault them. I went with these because of the removable cable. That was a game changer.

I've had the UNI, small version, from the start, that is, I ordered it on Kickstarter. Then I got it before I bought the 2018 iPad Pro. Works very well, and I also tested it recently with an HDMI cable and a monitor. Everything's works well.

If you have an iPad Pro I’d recommend a Satechi Thunderbolt 4 port replicator. It has 3 USB-C ports, a 1Gb Ethernet port, 3 USB-A 3.2 ports, an SD card port, and a USB-A 2 port that provides power even if the iPad is not connected. It supports 4K HDR and has an audio io port (3mm, 1/8 inch). The power brick provides 135 watts.

2:24 quick tip: stop gripping the wire and start using the connector to get the plug in and out. Just seeing you do pulling the wire gives me (and the wire) stress...

Hi Jakob. I use a Twelve South StayGo USB-C Hub.
Usb-ports :
USB-C (pass-thru 85W USB-C PD charging) to ipad
1x USB-A 3.0 (7.5W Fast Charge)
2x USB-A 3.0 900mA power
USB-C (100W Max) USB-C power input
(4k. HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet Port, SD Card and Micro SD Card)

2 cables.
Extra a PD power adapter to power the iPad Pro and usb bus powered controllers.
Not cheap but excellent quality.
No headphone connection on hub (usb to audio adapter?).

Just ordered the Acasis hub, which in addition to being a non-cabled usb c hub also has head phone out and is also an enclosure that will host m.2 nvme drives. so it’s effectively a hub with built-in storage.
