How is the first one powered? It is just a regular USB Hub, it gets its power from the host. That is NOT how we define powered usb hubs - they need external power supply, so it can power the USB devices without draining the host.

This video is an unprofessional mess. The voiceover refers to the first one as a "powered USB hub" 5 times. It is obviously not powered. The voiceover says it has 18 months warranty while on screen it says 2 years warranty. Facts apparently don't matter to whoever made this.

Can I use it with the iPad 9th gen through lightning to USB and then connect the usb hub to it and by externally supplying power for my power hungry External HDD??

The first hub is not powered. The third hub is not powered. all the hubs can only deliver 5 volts. No usb hubs dupport ethernet. The 4th hub is can still receive 5gigs at the input and send 5/11 gigs (around 40 mbps). all hubs are hot swappable. this video is a mess.

I have three USB hubs. One of them DC powered. They're good for reading small flash drives, smartphones, and tablets but can't detect 4tb external hard drives.

Already #5 is not "powered", this isn't semantics either. Powered USB Hubs receive their power from an outlet not from the bus, in short while these can provide power it's passing through from the 900ma that's already on the bus, and not providing their own.

Why would you want a powered hub as opposed to not? Devices requiring a high power draw like an external hdd/ssd or something like the streamdeck will use up that bus's (<---i'm not sure that's grammatically correct) so if you plug in a hub and plug that high powered device on the hub, it renders the rest of the ports unusable, or worse yet the pheripheral or hdd/ssd stops working when you plug in multiple devices to the hub.

#2 Will work (it's expensive so it should), but it being backward compatible with usb2 is not a feature of the hub, it's a feature built in to the USB3 protocol, EVERY USB3 HUB IS COMPATIBLE WITH USB2, even usb-c with an adapter will work for usb 2 devices FFS.

I may sound bitter and angry, I'm not it's just a tech review channel should know the tech they're reviewing.

I thought it might interest you guys since I didn't know, all bandwidth is shared regardless if it's on a port or on a hub. I don't know if USB2 and USB3 share the same host, but if they do then the bandwidth is shared. You may also think what about internal pci-e cards (those will share bandwidth with pci-e (you wont clog it with even an nvme though so...). Guess what though that 16x pci-e $3000 dollar gpu, will run at 8x instead of 16x (most people wont even see the diff, but some of you will).

Currently my setup, has 2 nvme, one on a pci-e 1x slot since I didn't want to give up my sata ports. Those are probably on shared pci-e lanes aswell.

Is it advantageous to get a USB bus with individual power for each output?

I have an Unihertz Jelly 2E phone (Android 12), a 5 year old HDTV (not a Smart TV), an old USB mouse (I dont if it is USB 2.0 or 3.0) and a Sandisk Cruzer Glide 16 GB USB flash drive (bought in Nov. 2016 and I dont know if it is USB 2.0 or 3.0). I need to mirror the phone to the TV so I can have a bigger screen and dont have to look at the small phone screen all the time. The TV has an HDMI port. I need to connect the mouse to the phone so I can look, tap and swipe on the TV instead of looking, tapping and swiping at the small phone screen. I need to connect the flash drive to the phone so I can access the files. Can someone recommend 1 adapter hub or something that is available at Walmart or Amazon that can handle these all at the same time (instead of buying 2 or more separate adapters or hubs). Thanks.

Dear Sir, Thanks for the great guidance . Sir, I have 2 Questions :
1. If I Use Samsung Galaxy 45 Watts Charger to give external power on 100 Watts USB Hub, will it work smoothly, and with out any problem ?
2. If external power is needed for USB Hub, which is unpowered, Can I give Charge to it, with my Mobile /Tablet charger itself, to which that hub is connected ? Thanks for expected reply

The transfer rates are 5 Gigabit/sec. Not 5 Gigabytes. Also, they do not weigh pounds, they weigh ounces. I will never carry anything that weighs 13 pounds with my laptop that weighs less than 5!!!!

The problem I always have with USB hubs is there is never enough room "between" the ports to fit flash drives next to each other. Can all these hubs accommodate flash drives in every port simultaneously?

I've had the Atolla for like 3 years. It's served me well in that time, a few ports stopped working but overall it was good. It broke today, i'm looking for a replacement

Thanks for sharing this video! I found it really informative and helpful in understanding the top powered USB hubs available. The Anker Series 5 and RSHTECH 516 seem like solid options with their durability and individual port controls. I'm leaning towards the Anker Series 5 for its compatibility and heat-resistant connector. However, I have a question about its power output. Can you provide more details on the power output of the Anker Series 5? It would help me make a more informed decision. Thanks!
